I just finished reading the book. The book was really something to think about. The movie however was not.
I know it's 'based' on, but for me it was such a big disappointment. Besides the obvious of how she was discovered, a whole lot of things that are different were not in the movie, if felt extremely rushed, Buckley was barely a part of the story and they made mom a lot nicer than in the books. Where's the affair? Seeing that grandma is not as bad. Now it looked like the sister was the obsessed one, while dad was the real obsessed one, with good reason though. The 'inbetween' well let's not go there. Seeing the movie you wouldn't even think she was raped and cut into pieces. When she came back in Ruth's body, she had sex with Ray.. that seemed like quite a big one.. no, I'll stick with the book. It's not that the actors did it so badly, it was all so rushed, you can't really get into it.
