Was really hoping for more original science
kalibeans24 March 2017
Sadly, there is not much new content in this series that has not been covered in numerous other documentaries or science or history series. A lot of teasing at the commercial breaks, with little to reveal after. I have no issue with exploring to find newer science on a previously explored site and coming up empty. That's the nature of exploration. But please don't belittle your viewers intelligence with the false hope of a new reveal "after a few words from our sponsor". The sites are interesting as is. Trying new technology on these places is interesting. Just don't try to hype it up. The approach kind of reminds me of a ghost hunting show format. Interesting sites with interesting science and history - poorly delivered. UPDATE: Season 2: Season 2 adds a new tech adviser Stefan and greatly improved scripts, locations and best of all - the childish teasers prior to a commercial break leading you to believe a major discovery would follow an ad for whatever are 95% gone. This is more what we have come to expect from The Science Channel. I have revised my rating from a "5" for Season 1 to a "7" for Season 2. Well worth your time now. The episode in Israel was especially well done.

I enjoyed this a lot!

It was fun to explore all the underground areas. It reminded me of Cities of the Underworld which was also a fun show to watch. If you like history and discovering new places, you should enjoy this one.

The show should called debunking ridiculous ideas with technology
mr_view16 December 2017
Season 1 - The show's main theme seems to start with a ridiculous idea and then the skeptical host begins to debunk or confirm the idea with technology. With only a very little explanation about the technology. There is not much here expect to watch a "skeptical host" unravel some mystery with random guests using some technology to debunk or prove the show idea.

There is a lot of hype before each commercial about possible outcomes and amazing finds that somehow all seem to be created by aliens.

If you love shows the solve mysteries with guys pointing at computer monitors of ground penetrating radar output then this is your show.

Nothing new here - just bad

I have tried to sit through a couple of episodes of this ludicrous series currently being shown in the UK on the Discovery Channel. The presentation is childish and the commentary sensationalist and banal. Apparently the Bay of Naples thermal waters are really hot, giving rise to lots of 'holy craps' and 'holy moleys' and the sleeping giant may 'blow' at any time. Really ? And so it goes on ..... a couple of 'scientists' in shirts and chinos waving around their revolutionary equipment doing things that have been done properly by other people before while exchanging childish asides to each other. It's difficult to know who this is aimed at. If you're over 12 years old - don't bother. The 3* is generous - and is for some of the camera work.

I hate the narrators voice.

I would love to be able to watch this show. It looks good, but the narrators effeminate voice is so annoying, I can't even make it through one episode.

First review I've ever written for a show, genuinely suggested that a pretty standard blowhole could possibly be a gate to hell..a 6th grader without the "technology" could of told you that. Another spoon fed travel channel joke.
