Not what it pretends to be
Just-A-Girl-1412 February 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I watched a commercial for this show on CBS Reality and it said that Donal Macintyre sheds new light on cold cases. I watched this episode and I didn't see any new information. The commercial was misleading. You don't need to be a criminologist to figure out it's unlikely Daniel Entwistle fell into the water and drowned. He was seven years old and the body was never found. I expected more from this show.

It's a very sad story with no resolution. Nobody knows what happened to the poor kid. They're just presenting basic known information in a dramatic way (totally unnecessary to add fake drama to such a tragic case btw) and mostly just repeating themselves over and over again for an hour (very annoying).

There's no real investigation, no new information and no interesting conclusions you'd expect from criminologists. I was disappointed. I was hoping they would investigate this more thoroughly. After all these years who knows what the police is even doing to solve this case. It's a cold case but you can still go back and talk to witnesses especially since some were kids. As adults they may have more information to share. When you grow older you may see things in a different light. For example, an adult's behavior who didn't seem threatening for a child could seem creepy later on in life. Also, sex offenders are added to police database all the time so someone who wasn't a suspect years ago can become one now. Maybe they can't do all this because it's an open police investigation but don't pretend to shed new light on old cases when really you're just presenting them (and not in a good way either imho). If you don't know anything about this case you can watch it but don't expect much.
