Shawn Michaels vs Triple H is worth watching

Warning: Spoilers
(05.13.96)

Live from Sioux City, IA

Your hosts are Vince McMahon & Jerry Lawler

Sunny tries to butter up Ahmed before his match by placing body oil on his chest. Ahmed says his mom always told him to never bring trash inside the house. Decent insult.

Ahmed Johnson Vs Zip (W/Skip & Sunny)

Ahmed wins with the Pearl River Plunge. This was essentially a handicapped match with Skip & Zip constantly doing switches before the referee caught on. It was nothing more than a glorified squash

3/4*

Duke "The Dumpster" Droese Vs Vader (W/Jim Cornette)

Vader wins with a Vader bomb from the second rope. This is a pretty poor match. Anybody that's familiar with Duke Droese should know that you're not going to get anything great from him.

*

The Undertaker comes out for an interview with Vince McMahon. It's interesting to note that the casket Paul Bearer is rolling out is a gold casket. Paul Bearer says Goldust may love the spotlight, but he's getting ready to go into the darkside. Undertaker says he plants to immortalize Goldust. Before Undertaker can continue, Goldust comes to the ring with Marlena. He does his usual inappropriate things until Taker has enough. Mankind comes out and attacks The Undertaker, applying the mandible claw in the process. Goldust mounts Undertaker in a sexual way, then sits beside him for a pose. The Undertaker scares him off by sitting up.

Thoughts: This was an interesting segment. Watching Goldust flirt with The Undertaker is kinda eerie. Mankind's attack was well done and it stacked the deck against The Undertaker with two deranged heels against him. Goldust really was the hottest heel in the company at this juncture. He was so unique and entertaining to watch before they foolishly turned him babyface.

Justin "Hawk" Bradshaw (W/Uncle Zebekiah) Vs Aldo Montoya

Bradshaw wins with a running lariat. This was very boring to watch. I've never been a fan of Bradshaw, no matter what gimmick he's had. He's always bored me and never did anything for me.

3/4*

The British Bulldog attacked Shawn Michaels on a beach in Kuwait. He even put his face under water multiple times.

Hunter Hearst Helmsley Vs Shawn Michaels (W/Jose Lothario)

Shawn wins with the superkick. This was interesting to see these two this early in their careers. This was a very small preview of what these two could do in the ring. That preview was certainly solid and they put on a good match. There were some funny moments as well. I liked it when Shawn kept working over Hunter's nose.

***1/4

The British Bulldog says if Shawn goes anywhere near his wife Diana next week during his (Bulldog) match, Shawn might not make it to In Your House.

5.5 rating overall.

The show opens with Ahmed Johnson mumbling through an interview with Jim Ross. Johnson then wrestles Zip (or is it Skip?). We see a promo for "Warrior University", whatever that is. Vader takes on Duke Droese. Vince McMahon interviews Paul Bearer and the Undertaker, until Goldust interrupts. Justin "Hawk" Bradshaw faces Aldo Montoya. We see footage of the WWF's tour of Kuwait. The main event is Shawn Michaels versus Hunter Hearst Helmsley. This is a good match, and really the only thing worth watching on the show.
