Nicole Beharie for the win
ndmhs20 September 2023
Warning: Spoilers
What an episode!

First, seeing Cory bounce from highs to lows in this episode was gratifying. He torched his own company for zero reward. I wonder what his next play will be.

Second, by far the winners of this episode were Nicole Beharie and Holland Taylor. Holland is always stellar, but Nicole showed why she is one of my favorite actresses. Their interview was riveting to watch and rewatch. It was great writing which is sorely lacking in TV right now.

Third, I love Karen Pittman on this show and I am glad this episode reminded me why. Her character on the Sex and the City reboot is so bad it made me question her skills. Again, the difference between poor writing and good writing.

I was NOT expecting that!

Omg. This is different! This season is taking a turn from the first two! It really went in depth with these new and unexplored characters. They even went more in depth with the ones we knew like Stella and Mia.

Alex and Bradley took a back seat this episode. And I love how this season, Alex is allowing others to get the spotlight during their time at UBA.

This episode really went in depth with racism, work relationships, and manipulation in the work force. And that interview at the end blew my mind! I had no idea it'd go there!

I hope the season continues like this!

What a Fantastic episode!

Episode 303

Warning: Spoilers
Well, the show is definitely getting more political this season, and there are positives and negatives associated with that.

This was an enjoyable episode though. It flipped the script on Chris Hunter, someone they were presenting as weak and dumb, and made her a three dimensional character and someone who went through a lot of struggles that many in the workplace face right now too.

The interview was intense and uncomfortable and the kind of thing that is a rarity on TV these days.

I may not agree with everything presented here, but it is hard to say it was not an enjoyable episode of The Morning Show.

Love This Episode the acting, the writing and the story
moviesfilmsreviewsinc22 December 2023
After the ugliness of UBA's history was revealed, Cory wanted to focus on doing the news, not being the news. On The Morning Show Season 3 Episode 1, being the news was a priority, as they had a media blitz surrounding sending someone into orbit on an untested manned rocket. However, the episode "White Noise" was different, as UBA's data was breached and the studio was held hostage. Revelations began circulating among staff, eventually reaching outside UBA. The episode of The Morning Show featured accusations that decisions were made based on race, with the results being unfavorable. Cybil Richards, UBA's board chairman, made the harshest commentary. Rival network Eagle News shared the atrocious behavior exhibited at UBA with disregard for those UBA had slighted, putting them above UBA. Cory Ellison, who had uncovered the board's opinion on a potential takeover by Paul Marks, dismissed the board's opinion and set everything into motion to achieve his desired results. Ellison even called Chris up to his office for the first time, in contrast to the consideration former newbie Bradley Jackson received upon her arrival at The Morning Show. The world we live in now is filled with insidious ugliness pervading news from all directions. Cybil, a former anchor, frequently dated Cory, leading to his love for her. Chris, a charismatic anchor, had minimal interaction with Cory, suggesting inherent bias. Cybil's actions, uncovered in The Morning Show Season 3 Episode 3, suggest she needs to disentangle herself from her father's legacy before destroying it. This happened at a worse time for Cybil, as her father may have founded the network. Time may heal wounds, but people change with them. Alex Levy, who confided in her concerns about Cory's potential partnership with Paul Marks, was forced to work on TMS five days a week by Cybil, who scolded her for insubordination. This story highlights Cybil's history of using her position to achieve her own goals, disregarding those who continue to bring her father's dream to life. She turned to Alex to help paint Cybil in a better light, but Alex called her out on the incident and brought Chris, who was the most affected, in to clear the record. The Morning Show's portrayal of Cybil's offensive behavior is a powerful story that highlights the pain and damage caused by the transition from the old guard to the new. Holland Taylor and Nicole Beharie effectively portray Cybil's anxiety and the journey of Mitch Kessler's misogyny. The show has only two seasons under its belt, but it has tackled instances like this with a keen awareness for everyone involved. The new layer of trouble at UBA is primarily women who are taking the brunt of the bad behavior. Mia and Stella were left to bring the team back together, but they had their own doubts about how UBA brass felt about them. Jon Hamm isn't going anywhere, so the story isn't over. A white savior story may be on the horizon if Paul comes to UBA's rescue with a financial infusion. The new blood could be good for UBA, but Stella's history and warning to the contrary may lead to Marks infusing the team with a host of mistakes, just like some other billionaires. The Morning Show's portrayal of this situation is a testament to the power of change and the challenges faced by individuals in overcoming adversity.

Thinking of Senator Lloyd Bentsen
jessicabnoll24 September 2023
While watching season 3, episode 3 of THE MORING SHOW, I found myself thinking of Senator Lloyd Bentsen's famous 1988 VP debate quip to Dan Quayle, "Senator, you're no Jack Kennedy." This season thus far, and much of episode 3, lead to to make this comparison between the THE MORNING SHOW, playing the role of future VP, spelling challenged, Dan Quayle, and the far superior SUCCESSION in the role of JFK.

THE MORNING SHOW, has all the ingredients to be a great drama on it's own. Show biz, news, money, human drama, palace intrigue all abound, and should be able to mix into an engrossing story. However, THE MORNING SHOW seems to keeps throwing itself in the trash to keep apace with real world events. While this tactic makes sense given that the show is about a morning breakfast TV show, the reality is that the shifts in the story, and season three's odd insistence on copying plot points from a far superior show (SUCCESSION) leave the viewer with detached story lines with little to no emotional connection for the audience.

This episode is elevated by the excellent Nicole Beharie, who does heavy lifting on behalf of her writers who have asked her character to both confront and solve racism.

As a viewer, "show within a show" is always a favorite, juicy device, unfortunately, this show continues to fall short of hitting the mark as it tries very, very hard to stay a pace with current events making them, and their statement on it the main character.

Another « problematic » character is thrown under a bus.
m-478265 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
So far season 3 is double the cringe and a snooze fest to some extent. John Hamm's addition is almost anecdotal and the characters still act like prudish rats, when it serves their purpose. In this episode in particular, getting rid of Sybil, and her refusal to let Cory's view and ambition flourish. The whole plot about racism was preachiness at its « finest ». I mean if a grown woman gets unnerved this much, by some silly (yet private) comment someone she only saw once (her word), made about her. Then she should be the one wearing diapers or attending kindergarten. Not her kids. The whole situation was childish, and everything that is wrong with woke culture. Poor Yanko got sidelined trying to make those cry babies understand that. But honestly, it's just normal toxic behavior for those people in the Morning Show to do that. And now I'm officially resigned to hate watch this show, in hopes something good might come along again.

I love this show but it's an awful episode.
Seismonik7 December 2023
We get it. Black people are allowed to call me "white people" and assume that all white people are privileged. This show is so toxic it's becoming parody. I don't want this racial stuff rammed down my throat. We get it. We really do. All black people in the world are "fighting a struggle" but all white people are living life with ease. Joke episode. I don't care. I don't see race. I don't see colour. Black people do. Figure that out. This episode was so bad and so difficult to watch. It was completely detracted from the show as an entirety. Don't watch it. At all. It's not needed apart from a few small things. If you want an episode where we all cry about black people, watch it. If you're sane, don't watch it.
