The Morning Show: White Noise (2023)
I was NOT expecting that!
Omg. This is different! This season is taking a turn from the first two! It really went in depth with these new and unexplored characters. They even went more in depth with the ones we knew like Stella and Mia.
Alex and Bradley took a back seat this episode. And I love how this season, Alex is allowing others to get the spotlight during their time at UBA.
This episode really went in depth with racism, work relationships, and manipulation in the work force. And that interview at the end blew my mind! I had no idea it'd go there!
I hope the season continues like this!
What a Fantastic episode!
Secret Invasion (2023)
Not the best start
Marvel has not been on the best side of things lately. And it's been showing for quite a while. I was very excited for this show; a dark spy thriller with invasion happening at the center of it. This is something that is really needed in the MCU. A show that takes itself seriously. But there are many issues.
The opening scene was really a fantastic beginning and explanation towards the invasion and sets the groundwork for the episode. But for about an hour it meanders, and doesn't really pick up the pace. They don't really deal with the scope of the situation and I just got board for most of it. I see the character work they're trying to do with Nick Furry and showing him in a position where he's vulnerable. But all they do to show that is that they make him look worn out meanwhile other characters are telling him that he's not ready.
SPOILERS
Now, what made me really mad about the show is how they killed off Maria Hill. I understand that they were trying to build suspense and make people feel worried for other characters. But out of nowhere, they took her life, a character that's been known for over a decade and killed her. Killing her in the most boring and dull way possible. Not making me feel engaged, but making me feel confused and tired of what marvel is putting out. I was excited to see Maria Hill in the show and thought they'd make her a better developed character. But who cares about that. The only reason I feel emotional after her death is because of all the other movies she made small appearances in, that made me like her character. Otherwise the show did nothing to make us like her more. My review may change as the episodes go on. But so far it feels like marvel doesn't know what to do.
Glass Onion (2022)
An interesting Knives Out sequel
I personally very much enjoyed this film. The beginning was a bit dull, but by 50 minutes it starts to get really exciting! And the middle for me is nonstop twists and turns, which makes the beggining more worth the slow start. But unfortunately at the end it suffered as the first movie, and I was able to predict the murderer. I wasn't fully sure, but I was getting the feeling. Then the detective describes everything we don't know, and there are some interesting surprises. Until of course the third act happened and they had a full action scene which was very unnecessary and ruined the murder mystery vibe. It felt like the writer just had to finish the script as soon as he could.
The murder mystery overall felt more complex than the first. Loved it! But how the story played out with the characters and their ark didn't do it for me. Knives out had a stronger story ark for the characters. Netflix might of rushed the writing process and maybe wanted something specific for the sequel, which didn't end up working.
Overall this movie is worth watching with family if you like murder mysteries, but lower your expectations for the finale act.
