Convoluted but Fun
Hitchcoc20 March 2021
When a little boy is thought to be kidnapped, the usual efforts are employed. The kicker is a huge power outage due to a lightning storm. What is already a very difficult case with a tight deadline must be investigated without most of the resources, especially fingerprint recognition software. Codis and other "ises," as one person says. We have a father with a horrible reputation who claims innocence but isn't forthcoming with information.

The Old School
claudio_carvalho17 November 2023
When the five-year-old Harper Riordan is kidnapped, his father calls the police and Russell and Finn arrive at the crime scene in a stormy night. His babysitter, Shelby Buress, is also missing. The CSIs find blood spatter on the bed sheets and on the ceiling in Harper's bedroom and a fingerprint on the bed. Out of the blue, the power goes out since three generating stations have been blown out by the storm. Nick and Sara follow a trail of blood drops and they find Shelby dead. The CSIs are aware that the life of Harper is in danger and they have a few hours to resolve the case. But all the equipment depends on the power and Russell asks the team to investigate in the old school, when the state-of-art technology as not available.

"CSI Unplugged" is another good episode of "CSI', with another original story. The plot has many suspects that might be the Harper's abductor and a twist in the end when the identity is finally disclosed. The show is also an opportunity how the cases where investigated a few years before the advance of technology. Every senior professional of technological area has passed through these modifications in his or her career. My vote is six.

That's not how blood science works

Warning: Spoilers
When D. B. asks Riordan about Harper having an O blood type and Shelby with AB, then proceeds to say Shelby couldn't be his mother, that statement is just not true.

I would know because I have an O blood type and my mother is AB, there is nothing in science that says you can't have completely different blood types from your parents.

I get it's for the sake of a reason and for the story but it's not even factual and takes away from the enjoyment a little bit.
