Better than I might have expected.

"Round About Hollywood" is interesting in that it was filmed in Cinecolor--and early form of two-color film stock. While the colors tended towards orange and green, it did give a relatively nice appearance of full color--at least when the film is clean, fresh and restored. As for this film, the beginning is very faded--so much that it's hard to tell it's a color picture. Fortunately, as the film progresses this improves.

Although I assumed this was just a propaganda film to sing the praises of Hollywood and showcase some stars the studios are trying to promote, this doesn't even occur until the very end. The rest of the film is a gentle tour of Hollywood and the area around it. In many ways, it feels like you're on a tour bus looking at what everything looked like back in 1931. It's great for old film buffs and historians and can downloaded for free at archive.org. Well worth your time.

Dull Scenery

By Allah, it just doesn't move and the absence of any music makes it so incredibly dull! This must be the most boring representation of Hollywood éver!
