Getting interesting.
Brettyboy00725 March 2020
"Mission Creep" is the 3rd episode of Person of Interest. This one had different side plots happening such as Carter's pursuit of Reece as he goes and integrates himself in the lives of the ones he's going to save. The other side plot is this mysterious Elias character. The flashbacks this episode with Reece/Jessica were unnecessary to me. But other than that this show is definitely gaining momentum. Each episode it seems like each POI gets themselves in more serious trouble. The Det. Carter storyline will undoubtedly come to a Reece/Carter showdown soon. Hopefully we'll find out more about Elias M.

Building a story through this episodic format (minor spoilers)
Shmaden30 November 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Another episode, another case for Finch and Reese. And this is why some people might lose interest in this show, because of the lack of continuity of the story, or the fact that you can't see where the show is going. But even with that episodic thing that restricts the power of storytelling, Nolan and his team succeed in surprising the audience later on with some twists which hardly anyone can see them coming. And that is the best thing about this show, that it takes you where you never thought you'd go.

But among all this, the episode succeeds in setting up things for the next episodes. And to prove this to you without any spoiler I'll say this: there are names that are mentioned here that will eventually show themselves later on this season and other flashbacks which right now will seem to have 0 significance but once the full story unravels itself it will be shocking and surprising to see how these scenes fit into the bigger story.

Besides that there is nothing more to say about this episode except for the cat and mouse game that detective Carter and Reese are starting to play. Aside from that this episode is just typical "man in danger" case that this season will be about for its majority of time.

For people who want to see where this is going, there are bits and pieces here and there and the pay off in the end will satisfy them and hook them up for what's to come.

8/10 from me. The best is yet to come!

The Gang of the Bank Heist
claudio_carvalho6 February 2024
Finch tells Reese that the machine gave the number of the decorated soldier that has just returned from the Afghanistan, Joey Druban, who is now working as doorman of a hotel. Joey has a girlfriend for a long time, Pia Moresco, who works as waitress in a cafeteria. Reese clones his cellphone and follows him to a bank, where he joins three men and rob it. Reese does not let the security guard to shoot them, and they flee with the money. He follows Joey, who gives the money to a young woman, and receiving money from a taxi driver. He takes photos from the woman and the cab driver and Finch identifies them: the woman is the widow of a fellow soldier of his division as well as the driver, who is was also from the same division. Finch also finds that the veteran Sam Latimer, who owns a bar, probably belongs to the gang. Now Reese will contact him to see whether he can join the gang in the next heist. Meanwhile, Det. Carter sees the footage of the bank heist and sees that Reese is the man who saved the security guard.

"Mission Creep" is another great episode of "Person of Interest", with the story of a soldier that found the easiest way to make money, but in the end, is not a bad guy at all. The flashback of Reese and Jessica in a filler in the show. The role of Det. Carter is not clear, and she bothers Reese in every case. The question of this show is who the mysterious Elias M. Is. My vote is eight.

Great episode for a really good show

Greetings from Lithuania.

I really like this show.

Finally we have a show that is real as it gets and it's interesting to watch. It doesn't "throw" the new plot twists every 2 min. (we watched a lot of these aren't we?) and it's just a joy to watch. Jim Caviezel is in his best form. You really believe that he could kick you ass in a sec. When i saw Michael Emerson in a first episode and thought "oh man, that's the dude from "Lost", he's definitely going to be some VERY and i mean VERY secret / mysterious dude in this one, he's like going to "throw" all the mysterious stuff every 2 sec. and we'll say ohhh..." but NO, he's got some mystery but it works here very well. And this episode is just amazing. It was just like watching some mini "Heat" episode crossed between "The Dark Knight" (i'm not joking here, hope you'll see some references here brought by J.Nolan). I'm recommending this show (and especially this episode) to everyone who likes movies like "Heat" or other great heist movies. "Person of Interest" - your'e here to stay!

"Mission Creep" Warning: Spoilers
"Mission Creep" is similar in quality to "Ghosts". The number strikes close to John Reese's heart--he's a former military man just like him. The ensuing action involving bank robberies is pretty routine for an action show, and it's not presented or written in an especially intriguing way. The writers are still finding their footing. Once again, the flashbacks provide insight into one of the main characters, this time John Reese. The audience gets their second glimpse into what motivates him. He missed his chance for a happy life.

Well crafted story but Person of Interest is rusted by its episodic format and grounded by its chicken wings
igoatabase7 October 2011
Ghosts was a decent second episode but it lacked what made the pilot so promising. Sadly this third installment was in the same vein but the elements that had convinced me to stick around so far were absent. The Machine ? It was missing in action when it's the one thing that differentiates Person of Interest from all the other cop shows. The episode begins, John Reese meets Mr. Finch, a new number is received and it's time for the new mission of the week. Such a by the book and endless format doesn't work for me. However the writers talent to serve us with well crafted stories is undeniable even if the way they end has become predictable. This one was moving and even intriguing at times even it wasn't original not really surprising. But some characters were inspiring and played by performers who should make you care for them. It's specially true for Jim Caviezel who carries the show on his strong shoulders. Moreover we learned more about his past and one the persons he left behind before going to war. Still the arc was far too anecdotic and I hate the fact that writers control the pace by leaving breadcrumbs behind them and hoping for some viewers to follow their trail passively. Worst I can't remember a single humoristic scene so I worry that the show could actually be taking itself way too seriously. I'm not asking to turn it into a one man show but the pilot proved that Reese can be hilarious, like Bruce Willis as John McClane for instance. Therefore it makes the series less entertaining. Even the good infographics linking the scenes and involving Mr. Finch from time to time can't push the barrier that prevents the individuals behind the show from taking things to a whole new level. And the déjà vu on-going investigation regarding Reese doesn't help ! To sum things up I understand how the formula can be appealing to some people but in the end Person of Interest is just an other cop show. It could have been more but its creator didn't take the risk and it's specially disappointing considering J. J. Abrams is one of its executive producers.
