As the story begins we see Paul talking on his cell phone to Wendy. He tells her he is in a store. Evidently, she is reminding him to get soy milk, which he promises her to get. They are planning to go to the movies later in the evening. Looking at the wall, we see a diploma that belongs to Adele Bowser. Evidently, Adele is a therapist.

One thing that is noticeable is Paul's jittery in meeting this woman. Even though he sits, he does not appeared relaxed. When Adele asks him the purpose of his visit, he explains he has run out of prescriptions for Ambien. Paul has been suffering from lack of sleep, and mentions a recurring dream, which he has figured out how it relates to him.

Paul is obviously not too happy sitting in front of a young woman whom he figures has no experience in the field. Yet, Adele is a sharp lady who really asks things about Paul Weston's life. He comes clean in telling her about his failed marriage, his relationship with his own father, who left his family. His mother's suicide.

Paul Weston goes to talk a bit about the three patients we have already met. Without revealing much, he expresses his concerns about the treatment for them. The fact that Frances has told him about the cancer history in her family, has brought out Paul's own concern he might be carrying the Parkinson's disease gene that killed his father.

The book he has brought is Gina Toll's. Paul explains her role in his life. He even reads the quotes in the back of it, that shows a radiant Gina. Adele, in spite of Paul's misgivings, has managed to learn a lot from the man sitting across from her. After giving him the prescription, Paul prepares to leave. Adele offers her services if he feels she can be of help. Walking out of the Adele's office, Paul is surprise to see his son Max at his stoop. Max tells him he has come to live with him.

The fourth character of the season is introduced in this episode. Paris Barclay directed with his usual style that has worked so well in the intimate setting where the action takes place. Anya Epstein and Dan Futterman contributed the screenplay. An inspired Amy Ryan, an actress that exudes intelligence in all her appearances, is a welcome addition to this excellent series that deals with adult subject brilliantly. As usual, Gabriel Byrne makes his Paul Weston shine.
