Neat interview

Warning: Spoilers
Robert Englund has some cool stuff to say about playing randy macho cowboy Buck in Tobe Hooper's "Eaten Alive" in this 15-minute retrospective documentary. Englund starts the interview out by openly admitting he was obsessed with the Disney film "Peter Pan" and the original "King Kong." Englund also reveals that he was a gymnast and swimmer in grade school before getting into acting in middle school. Englund went on to act in theater before landing his first film role in "Buster and Billie." Englund talks about how he first saw "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" in a nearly empty theater on Hollywood Boulevard and auditioning for "Eaten Alive" in the San Fernando Valley. He remembers being thrilled when he walked onto the set on a studio backlot for "Eaten Alive" and has fond memories of working with Carolyn Jones and Stuart Whitman. Englund notes that he had a weird shorthand with Tobe Hooper, points out that he played a similar character in the play "The Rainmaker," and admits he was disappointed with the alligator. Englund even happily owns up to the fact that "Eaten Alive" is basically a drive-in movie. Recommended viewing for fans of the film.

My Name is Buck: A Look Back at Eaten Alive (2007)

*** 1/2 (out of 4)

This is the second featurette on the Special Edition of Tobe Hooper's EATEN ALIVE. This fifteen-minute interview with Robert Englund in incredibly entertaining and fans of the movie or him are certainly going to be entertained. Englund starts off talking about seeing The Twilight Zone, KING KONG and MOBY DICK and these were the things that made him want to be an actor. He talks about some of his early parts and how he ended up in Hollywood. The actor then shares why he wanted to do the part in EATEN ALIVE and what it was like working with the cast, the director and his thoughts on being in a horror film (this was his first). As usual, Englund is great fun to listen to as he goes from one story to the next. He tells a lot of great stuff about the making of EATEN ALIVE and even though I'm not a big fan of the movie I still found it entertaining to listen to. Englund really seemed to have had a great time on the movie but he does admit that he was disappointed in how poorly done the gator was. The actor even shares a funny story about the first time he saw THE Texas CHAINSAW MASSACRE.
