I'm a bit intrigued by the first episodes of the final season of The Crown. We are given a glimpse of two photographers. One, who simply takes pictures of the royals in the most bland settings. He is called whenever the queen is cutting a ribbon or speaking to an adoring crowd. He poses people, including the children of Charles and Diana. There is nothing natural. He is simply photographing history. The second is the best of the Paparazzi who lets us know that he is in it for the money and that he is a master of catching people in moments that can be used to scandalize them. He is hired by Fayad for some reason. He is working to get his son married to her. First he has to destroy his sons upcoming marriage. He is a bully. The photographer is in the waters outside the Fayad yacht and catches Dodi and Diana kissing passionately. The remainder of this episode involves the twists and turns of trying to manipulate things. The press has huge power. Well done, if unusual, episode.

Part two of this mini-series in the series
dierregi2 December 2023
This is the second episode of The Most Beloved series, a spin-off from The Crown, in which we get Diana's last weeks in slow motion. What is most astonishing is that 26 years after the events described, there are still people who feel so hot about the demise of what - I assume - was for them a total stranger and who refuse to accept that maybe this fiction gives a more realistic version of the facts than the "whirlwind romantic love story" inclusive of an improbable engagement, just after a month or so of summer frolic in the sun.

According to this version, even if Diana was so upset by the media circus, she chose to provoke it even more by spending more time with the engaged and soon-to-be-married Dodi, who was instigated to dump his fiancee by his meddling father.

Nature takes its course and Diana softens to Dodi, to which extent we will never know.
