Phenomenally good.

This adaptation is indefinitely better than it has the right to be. Give it a watch, if you like My Hero Academia you won't be disappointed.

Warning: Spoilers
"UA:LA" is an American live action mini-series from 2019, so pretty new still, but I am not so sure how accurate the term mini-series is here because episodes 2 and 3 are indeed previews of 2 minutes and 3 minutes that are as a whole also include in the pilot episode. So if these should be considered episodes, then they certainly come first and the order is incorrect. But that is just for the basics. Best would be if this maybe categorized as a simple short film. Looking at how it is really not too long ago that they released the entire 15-minute thing I wonder if perhaps there will be more like a sequel coming out at some point. The man in charge of pretty much everything here is director Christopher Clark Cowan and he already worked on some big blockbuster movies in the past, even if in less influential positions obviously. Might wanna ask him if this one continues. Anyway, we have a total of 5 key characters here. One character has stolen something and he is caught by the good guy and beaten up by him quickly. But then three other far stronger characters appear and they keep beating the good guy up. This is when the preview stops. When the show continues, we see that the initial bad guy may not be as weak and hopeless as we thought him to be initially and honestly how he at the same time takes on 2 of the super strong fellas was definitely exaggerated to me. And did not feel authentic given what we saw from him early. He reunites with the good guy and with the help of a flashback superpower they eventually are on par with the trio. This flashback sequence though I must say also felt really superficial to me and shallow and just for the sake of getting some emotions rushed-in. I was not buying it. Same about the bad guys eventually just leaving at the end after stating early that there was not really any other option than killing the good guy. So story-wise, this was not a good watch. Effects and fight sequences are definitely better and they were the biggest reason perhaps why I would consider giving this one a thumbs-up. The inclusion of these superhero superpowers is quite good and entertaining. The film is at its best when these are presented to us, the superheroes of the bad guys when they still dominate the 3v1 fight.. Afterwards, it gets worse quickly, so it is a really close call to decide if I should recommend checking this one out, but there were justg too many flaws eventually no matter how good this film looked, so I say skip it all in all. Go for something else instead.
