A Loveless West !
paulbrasch3 May 2008
Warning: Spoilers
Even though Pike had appeared before in ,'Night of the Camera', this looks to be his first episode as he is introduced by Col Richmond to West so my thinking is that this was the first show that was filmed with Pike after Martin's injury.

It's funny that Loveless makes his final appearance in Wild Wild West at the same time that Arte is missing in action.

It's always great to watch Dunn as Dr Loveless and is with some sadness that we enjoy his appearance knowing that he wouldn't return.

Of course he's up to his old tricks with a mechanical man threatening West and using the cover of a traveling circus to cage his victims is typical Loveless stuff. Loveless to West was the Joker to the Batman.

And it's a shame that after this show we would see him no more

Loveless Parting Shot- There Will Be Another Time
DKosty12317 April 2010
Warning: Spoilers
This was the last appearance of Michael Dunn (his 10th episode) on Wild Wild West. It is his only one without Ross Martin, but he fills the void quite nicely. Jeremy Pike & Col. Richmond are both here to help Jim West with an outrageous plot.

Loveless is out to extract revenge on everybody who has given him grief in his life including Jim West. The opening sequence includes Loveless & his lovely helper Deliah in a Barber shop putting West to sleep & into a crazy dream about what Loveless is about to do. When West wakes up from his dream, the lovely Deliah is about 40 years older & grayer. The plot advances from here.

Richmond, Pike & West start putting together a strange series of kidnappings which eventually add up to Loveless. Loveless is operating out of a circus this time, with all the victims in cages awaiting the capture of the last one, Saturday's child who brawny & brave - West- before Loveless plans to do them in. All this script is based upon a nursery rhyme with Loveless filling in the blanks near the end of the show.

While some of the special effects here don't live up to the quality of some of the other episodes, & some are recycled from earlier shows (The Wild Wild West went green in the 1960's), they way it is done here is still entertaining. The court sequence with all it's action at the end is quite good.

Loveless goes out in a real splash, drinking rare Cognac the entire show, and then being fired out of a cannon at the end with his last line being "there will be another time, another time." Sadly, this was it but this 10th show is definitely worth the look.

The last but not the least for Miguelito...
searchanddestroy-12 April 2019
Yes folks, this was the Dr Loveless swan song for this series. And probably the best, though maybe not the most action packed. The first part of the episode was rather smooth, intellectual for the show. But the second part, more exquisit and understandable too. Excellent scenes, unforgettable ones, but I repeat, less action sequences. At least less spectacular concerning stunt fist fights.

Bye-bye, Doctor Loveless
aramis-112-8048806 February 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Many of the Dr. Loveless episodes rank among the best of "West." This ain't one of them.

I suppose it's a quirk of my generation. I was among the first wave of Americans to see "Monty Python's Flying Circus" after some initial resistance because even as a boy I never enjoyed circuses. Adolescent Americans in the early 1970s didn't understand the World War I term "flying circus." And when I tried to tell others my age about the show they had the same reluctance: They didn't like circuses.

Therefore, I tend not to enjoy episodes of TV shows with Circus settings, as this one has.

Loveless is good as always. Funny and threatening, pitiable when he sees his plans beginning to unravel. But it climaxes in the typical kangaroo court and those are never fun for me.

One note: the end tags of Dr. Loveless episodes are typically amusing and suggest he will live to fight another day. The tag in this episode is downright eerie, considering Ross Martin's condition.

And Dr. Loveless? He had a fitting send-off and, not to give too much away, it's possible he still hasn't come down. This is the last Dr. Loveless episode and he never fought another day. Too bad.
