Do Not Forsake Me, O' My Postman (#11.5)

Warning: Spoilers
Margaret shows up at Cheers again. Pregnant. She wants Cliff to marry her. After an initial shock he confesses to Sam that he and Margaret never had sex. But then when she tells him that the guy who is the father broke up with her he says he will start a family with her. Only that guy calls and says he wants her back. So Cliff is off the hook, but he also finds out that they indeed had sex he was just too drunk to remember.

Not a bad episode. Besides the main story I like the first scene where they had Andy Shroeder looking for Diane. A fun reference to the past. And besides the past we also have somebody for the future here. John Mahoney who later in the spin off will be the father of Frasier comes to Cheers to write them a commercial. I wonder if they liked him so much in this episode that he ended up with the Frasier part

Now THIS is Cheers!

Warning: Spoilers
The cold open! Andy Schroeder with explosives strapped on him looking for Diane! Excellent reactions.

Carla saying she would have paid for a vasectomy -or even performed it herself made me laugh. Woody's question of whether or not Cliff would marry Maggie because, "it would be a shame to have to stone her." 🤣 Such a great Woody comment!

"Lookin' for husband, provider, best friend, lover; Who's name is at the top of the list?" Classic Cliff.

John Mahoney as Sy Flembeck was fantastic. I also enjoy seeing Annie Golden and I'm a little sad things didn't work out for her and Cliff.

Censored on Princess Cruises

Am on a cruise with Princess, and they have this season on Demand. (Watching it to help fall asleep.) This episode is not listed in the choices, so came here to figure out what's so offensive about it.

First time Marty appears in the Frasier/Cheers universe!

First time John Mahoney appears as Marty (but, not as Marty) in the Frasier/Cheers universe! If you give a poor rating you basically have no soul

And.

And then...

Some absolute piece of dog turd bum gives it a 6/10 solely because of the "way things were" back in the Cheers era. "Hurrr durr humour from 30 years ago offends me". Puke

A lot of Cheers episodes have aged absolutely terribly, that's not Cheers' fault, that's life. Frasier as the obvious more recent example has quite a few of those episodes itself. A lot of Cheers scenes even Episodes are somewhat cringe in today's era. This really wasn't one of them.

Very little of that outdated humor in this episode. It was mostly a make Cliff butt of the jokes episode.

More Male Posturing
Hitchcoc11 September 2019
Here is another episode where manhood is based on his sexuality. The guys at the end of the bar are all agog when Cliff's ex-girlfriend shows up pregnant. She is there to get him to marry her, but there is a fly in the ointment. Meanwhile, Rebeca hires a two bit jingle composer to come up with something for Cheers. However, all his jingles sound like Old MacDonald or Mary Had a Little Lamb.
