again with the architect theme
sandcrab2775 August 2019
Why do all tv writers think architecture is some kind of romantic job ... its nothing but a dog eat dog profession that pays poorly ... anyway, this episode is all about mitch's dad ( joseph campanella ) laying on a guilt trip for his own selfish reasons ... his mom is played perfectly by the beautiful anne jefferys ... also summer is having issues with water deaths she doesn't understand

Warning: Spoilers
Like Mitch was going to become an architect... Another father that doesn't know what a lifeguard does, superb writing. Eggert alluring though.

Not much Babewatch then (dvd) (vhs)
leplatypus1 June 2012
At first, it's impossible to find attractive ties for me to this show: i don't like southern Latin California, the beach and Playboy.

Nonetheless and amazingly, this third season of Baywatch and its fourth as well are very close to my heart and are my favorite show.

I discovered it in 1997 when life had really knocked me down then. As it wasn't broadcast in my country, crazy as i am, i watched them in Italian the afternoon and and in Deutsch the evening. Now, i have got this strange collection of french DVD (with Pam on the edge of the box) and it's really a pleasure to watch them all.

Before all things, the true symbol of this show is the sun. In Paris, i don't have it much, and in many other shows, there's often rain thus Baywatch is indeed the only one where sun, warm always happen and i just crave for that.

The other foundation is the strong and clear family values: if David the Hoff is much laughed, i just thank him very much. Mitch is a cool boss, a good colleague and the ultimate father. As Jeremy plays a joyful Hobie, their moments are full of fun and emotion. Along them, this second bunch of teammates is the best: Matt, Summer, CJ and Stephanie are young honest people with big hearts and they are much interesting and better than the bad-ass and babes of later seasons.

With those big bricks, the episodes are really surprising because they are totally unbelievable: the guest characters are cardboard, either totally good or totally bad. They face extraordinary things: terrorist, UFOs, kick-boxing, princess, lost on island. The directing is interesting as they try new visual (blur, colorization, in water). It's true that the featured song sequence or the rescues are often boring but just fast forward them with your remote and it's done.

As my habit commands, my trademark is to choose the best episode of the season and thus, i pick this "a matter of life and death" (3.12). It opens with the wonderful song of Enya "Carribean blue" that fits well to Summer. Her back-story told here is tactfully told as well as the Buchannons family relationships. David and Jeremy are just perfect and it has the best lines ever about parenthood:

  • Hobie, you can become whatever you want to be!

  • Dad, i just want to be like you!
