A great mini-series! Very engrossing and entertaining. The saga of a family traced from poverty in Ireland to eminence in America. This 1981 mini-series starred a pre-James Bond Pierce Brosnan and a pre-Star Trek Kate Mulgrew, along with a great supporting cast. Also, a fine musical score composed by veteran television composer Morton Stevens - (Hawaii Five-0, Police Woman) only adds more enjoyment to this outstanding production. It is available on home video. See it!

What a mini-series... Especially for those Mulgrewists of you out there... Brings tears to the eyes no matter how many times you've seen it... Its a tale of poverty and wealth--love and war... Its impossible to take your eyes off of... I will say, if and when you decide to watch it (and you will:)) Make sure you have plenty of time--it's four hours long, and once you get started--there is no stopping... (Yes--it's that engrossing) ;):) Kate and Pierce make the perfect couple for this lead. Although, I heard Kate say once that while filming there was no chemistry between she and Pierce whatsoever, it definitely doesn't show on screen. Again, what a mini!!!
