Director Rob Zombie's HOUSE OF 1000 CORPSES is his ode to 1970s horror shockers like THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE, LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT, etcetera. It's also the perfect adult tribute to all things Halloween:
Four young travelers wind up at the home of the Firefly clan, where they're lives are... drastically changed.
For a filmmaking debut, this movie is exceptional. The Director takes special care with the ghoulish decor, with great sets like Captain Spaulding's macabre museum, as well as the Firefly's creepy abode. While there are large dollops of humor, there are some genuinely tense, uncomfortable, and downright scary moments as well. Bill Moseley is the criminally insane Otis; Sheri Moon Zombie is the cackling, homicidal Baby; and the magnificent Karen Black is the audacious Mother Firefly. A truly memorable family of maniacs!
