Let's get the good stuff out of the way first,John Kramer was played excellently by Tobin Bell, the gore was everything you would hope for from a saw movie, and the slower pacing helps the movie build up. You've read it all in the other reviews already.
Now for the flaws. The main criticism I have is that the traps are unreasonable, even by saw standards. One player has perform a craniotomy, and remove part of his gray matter,in 3 minutes. Another has to amputate her entire leg,and give 3.5 ounces of marrow in the same time frame. This simply breaks the immersion a little too much for, since these are tasks that would take even a skilled surgeon much longer to do by comparison. The final game was also quite underwhelming, and convoluted, revealing that getting captured by the boyfriend was always a part of jigsaw's plan. And simply having a gas chamber with only one breathing hole be final trap, whereas the other players had to inflict extreme bodily harm on themselves to win, felt like he was letting Pederson off easy.
