A much more poorer variation of "Death Wish"

(1984) Exterminator 2 SOCIAL COMMENTARY THRILLER

Upon looking at the poster alone, it appeared to look like a futuristic action movie, but it's like, as soon as you watch it, it's nothing more but another "Death Wish" inspired movie. Co-produced, co-written and directed by Mark Buntzman that has Robert Ginty returning to his character as John Eastland who while wearing a mask/ helmet burn a couple of murdering culprits after they were attempting to run away in the back alley of a convenience store, killing in cold blood an elderly couple. And of course, what the NY media cares more about are the name of the vigilante than the victims the criminals who killed the elderly couple. And apparently, one of the culprits John the Exterminator had burned alive from the back alley of a convenience store also happens to have a brother, and he happens to be a leader of a criminal gang who calls himself "X" played by Mario Van Peebles, and he is seeking retribution. Cops are killed from a blatant robbery of an armored truck, and again the most important media coverage is the name of the unknown exterminator than the victims the gang had killed, with the intention of using the money they had stolen to deal with gangsters. Then the next thing you know, John the civilian happens to also is looking for a job, and he gets it from a VA friend name Be Gee Bear (Frankie Faison) who runs his own garbage truck, while John is dating a go go dancer inspired to participate in a ballet, Caroline (Deborah Geffner). Depicting a time when NYC police are worthless and do not do anything to curb the violence as some of the NY police are corrupt themselves. It is more "Death Wish" than it is "Taxi Driver", and a very poor job of it and a step down from the first "Exterminator".
