THE BOOGEYMAN (2023) ** Sophie Thatcher, Chris Messina, Vivien Lyra Blair, David Dastmalchian, Marin Ireland, Madison Hu, Maddie Nichols, Leeann Ros, Rio Sarah Machado, LisaGay Hamilton. Fair adaptation of a Stephen King short story about a grieving family plagued by a shadowy creature unleashed unwittingly in their home facing their own demons in the process. So-so CGI and only one genuine jump scare does not a horror movie make in spite of a fine performance by Thatcher as the eldest daughter battling her wits and monster to boot.
