Jenny Slate and Charlie Day are the rom-com duo we didn't know we needed. They were the glue that held this film together, and the main reason I enjoyed this more than I expected. But the source material didn't justify the almost two hour runtime, and mostly slower pacing. This film needed at least 15-20 mins trimmed out, and the pacing sped up. I found myself getting impatient during certain long and dragged out scenes. Plus with that duo and their comedic talents, more comedy and sharp one-liners were needed in the writing, and that to me was the biggest missed opportunity. The ending also felt rushed and lazy. All the other casting and performances were also spot-on. It's one of the better rom-coms that's been out in some time, and worthy of a fun one-time watch.
