What a magnificent piece of writing. The backstories are what makes this show so fantastic; and this is the most touching, humane, and wonderful story yet. I understand that it is a big deviation from the game, but I think it was absolutely necessary. The biggest tragedy of such pandemics is the lives lost and lives not lived.

Bartlett and Offerman really sold the love between Frank and Bill, because for me, it was the most believable gay relationship that I have seen on TV.
