Opening last night's episode with Benson getting a beatdown on the street in front of her son was totally unnecessary violence. How often will this happen to a police captain in real life? The character has seen enough trauma over the years. At this point, any more just seems like overkill; a needless attempt to generate more sympathy for the character.
Was also disappointed that Rollins' departure episode devoted so much time to Noah discovering and visiting a sibling. If the writers wanted to go there, it should have been in a separate episode. After such a long run, any personal stories should have been about Rolllins.
