The film opens with a very bad teaser of a car accident. It takes place in Bare Hollow Mississippi. Most of the town is upset with Ross Potter (Cole Hauser). Ross left town and made it big and then came back. He had a sure investment stock because of an upcoming merger. When the merger didn't happen everybody who invested lost all of their money. (Not sure how that works, they would still have the stock.) One person who is talking to him is his neighbor and waitress Delaine Moore (Jaimie Alexander) who appears sweet on him. Ross is getting a threatening phone call, "Where will you be the minute you wake up dead?" That night Delaine's father is shot and killed. Sheriff Thurmond Fowler (Morgan Freeman) is going on the presumption someone got the houses mixed up and they were after Ross.
The film attempts to be told with an aspect of Southern religious punishment tossed into the mix, but does so very poorly only using the idea at the beginning and end. The plot and body quickly shift as folks who we see as protagonists quickly become dead antagonists. Script feel short.
Guide: No swearing, sex, or nudity.
