This movie is dead

I'm so sorry I wasted money on this. And I did it because Morgan Freeman was billed as a starring role. Which he is not. First of all for a thriller, the movie looks horrible. It's photographed so poorly this would not pass on Lifetime or Hallmark. Noir thrillers are meant to be moody and textured. This is none of that. And the music, if possible, is worse than the photography. So the tone and style are a huge miss. So is the screenplay. It's obvious and sophomoric and is not only not thrilling or intriguing, it's actually bland and boring. The murder mystery is obvious and requires no thought as to who did what. The direction is bland and absolutely lacking in any kind of energy or dramatic push. In fact, it's as if the director just set up a camera and hoped for the best. The best didn't show up. As for the actors, I'll give Morgan Freeman a pass because of his body of work and his past genius, but Cole Hauser should be embarrassed. He looks lazy and like he didn't care. He thinks he's being cool by whispering every line and swilling his beer like a poser. It does not play well. He has no chemistry with his co-stars, I mean zero, and should not be the star of any movie. He does not have the charisma or presence to pull it off. He does well enough in Yellowstone while standing alongside Kevin Costner (I love this show). As long as he's charging around grumbling like a pissed off wrangler, he's OK, but if a role requires nuance and depth, Cole is not the guy. This movie should be avoided. They trick you by promoting Morgan Freeman, who worked a couple days and got a big payday. This movie is poorly written, acted, directed, photographed, scored, and most of all it's horribly produced. If someone would have cared, this movie could have be a bit better, but it was never going to be good. It's lazy, boring and worst of all, passionless.
