I've never seen the 1st Basket Case, but saw this last night for 1st time.
So for the most part it's your typical 80's/early-90's American Horror B-Film. Trashy, goofy, silly, naive an generally (intentionally) unconvincing, it compares to Street Trash, Toxic Avenger and my favourite, Frankenhooker.
Basically a bunch of deformed freaks - deformed to ridiculous cartoon proportions, live together in a care home, protected from the outside world until a journalist and photographer get word of the place and exploit it, subsequently getting themselves killed or mutilated !
The one part I thought was just brilliant was when the 2 most extreme freaks - a pair of tumour-laden heads with legs/arms attached to the sides, have sex (of all activities; God only knows what with !). Although basically the silliest part of the film, it indirectly parodies and encapsulates society's debauched manipulation of genuine love-making; crude, technical, loveless, emotionally obsolete and generally degenerate. Kinda confirms the falseness of pornography better than porn does !
So I'll have to give it 7/10 for being an otherwise generic goofy B-Horror Film with that brilliant sex scene !
