Crash & Bernstein (2012–2014)

An Pretty Decent Show I Really Liked!
7 July 2020
I've seen this show as an kid and rewatching it brought some fun memories for me when I was into this show because of Crash even if the show is pretty average {I honestly don't get the supreme hate against this show personally}, I remember seeing the puppet Crash as a zany, madcap, fun-loving and laughable simpleton being incredibly entertaining and was the best part of the show for me whenever an episode focuses on either his clownish antics/humor thoroughly or his conflicts (his silliness can be annoying or supremely childish at times but it does fit his impulsive personality as a sentient muppet {physically and the being the literal slang term for it}, his well-done voice does make his character look older than a teen) and he really doesn't have any motivations other than breaking stuff, but I still found this character pretty likable even for his out-of-character moments as he does share some heartwarming moments with Wyatt at times as he does have a good heart and his intentions are usually in the right place even for his stupidity, absurdities and himself being the wacky comic-relief. + Even the way Crash was puppeteered shows a lot of talent, even for this kind of show

Speaking of the characters, they are pretty ok, typical, somewhat archetypal and kinda uninspired, but some of the character's plot-lines are somewhat interesting like how Wyatt had an conflict with being the only child mistreated by his sisters and mother and never got to hang out with anybody like him while living a female environment (Pesto being one of his friends don't really help out with Wyatt's desires), but to be around others like the titular Crash bring in some fun for him and finally seeing his photographer father in a episode as examples (even if he himself wasn't all that important)

Most of the episodes are pretty passable, even for some of the predictability and typical settings, some unnecessary moments/etc or some mediocre episodes that do present their worst like those dark or mean-spirited episodes like the first episode of the first season "Crash Lands" when Wyatt's family try to get rid of Crash when Wyatt himself finally has a best friend that can connect to him as Crash does survive in the end and in "Release the Crashen" when Wyatt tries to survive from Mel aka Ms. Bernstein's mistake to pair her son to the obnoxious and unsanitary Gerry and how his family was very uneasy to be around when Wyatt's family visit went to visit them (there were some funny and entertaining bits even if the entire episode was painfully predictable and somewhat hard to watch).

The episodes usually can go from pretty ok and interesting to those fun to watch and engaging episodes, my favorites were episodes that had Crash screwing around with the tormentors and comically clowning towards others to the point they're annoyed in a flowery manner or even episodes related to the titular duo like in the s1 episode 9 "Undercover Crash" as one of my favorites, s1 episode 15 "Crash Jacked", the s1 episode 16 "Crash vs Flex" in a both charming and funny way, the s1 episode 23 "Crash Asks Too Many Questions" being one of my true favorites next to Undercover Crash, the s1 episode 18 "Crashlemania" & the s2 episode 2 "Health-O-Ween". + My favorite parts in particular that relate to the show was when Crash does his Pranksgivings as specials with other shows and are pretty entertaining and funny to watch, and are much better than the show to be honest.

The humor does have some not-so-good grossout & unfunny grossout humor {In "Trash & Bernstein" when Crash had his catchy, slightly lowbrow and somewhat funny Trash song, that was where some of the toilet humor seemed to be done the best in a amusing way than the rest, even if the jokes were hit-or-miss anyway} and just some of the jokes in general aren't that good and can fall flat at times, but there is some really good slapstick, humorous wordplay (sometimes being ACTUALLY self-aware or clever like the autotune commentary by Crash) and crazed humor that usually gets lots of chuckles out of me.

(Some people take this show and this character WAY too seriously to summarize how this show is like entirely, unless for some reviewers like The Wild Review that was an exception since he was actually bringing up some REALLY good points and has a satisfying summary how he felt about this show {compared to the majority of reviews you see everywhere}, but I honestly found this show as a guilty pleasure to me since this show has a special place in my heart by how much I enjoyed the show, even when skipping those episodes I didn't like, I still found the show quite enjoyable if you're in the right mood for it)
