There's more than meets the eye in this one.

Is it a comedy? No. Ok, maybe a black comedy. Is it a suspense? No. Although it does have suspenseful scenes. Is it scary? In a way. It's hard to put one label on this film. You start out thinking that it's a comedy because of who's in it, but when a man is hanging from a ceiling fan, you quickly realize it's at least a little more. Soon you realize that even though you may have laughed or at least been amused a few times, there's something scary about this film. Add a couple more kills and a few more laughs and you're rooting for the co-lead to escape her danger and it's a little thrilling. If that was it, you could say this movie was entertaining but there's more. Something deeper. The movie is dramatic in the sense that it hints at the absurdities of the American dream. People have been sold lake front property in Arizona, and when they realize there's no lake, they've lost their cool. It also takes humorous shots at our modern day attention span, and the way teenagers treat their parents. The whole time, the actors do a good job of bringing it all together. All in all, this movie is well worth seeing. Despite negative reviews, this movie is a possible future cult classic that I'm happy to have seen.
