The Decameron (1971)

I say - brilliant...

Brilliant in its humor and fun-making. I've always thought of Pasolini as a serious director, as I had seen three adaptations of Greeks myth he directed, two of which were 1969, a year before the Decameron. Never expected such a comic sense. What made the series funny were not really the ridiculous stories, but more the interpretation of them. The faces of the characters and how they expressed emotions, the casualness of sex and the simplicity inherent to Italians in the 14th century. Quite a funny watch, I must say.
