Going into the first episode I spend a lot of time on image boards where the show was discussed. The initial reaction to the announcement of the show was negative as old fans berated Cartoon Network for "ruining" the Teen Titans. They claimed that the new show was too silly and meant to appeal to little children. While this may be too, it's not like the 2003 show was lacking in the silliness department and the first episode was actually entertaining. I can already tell kids will love it.
The show uses a clever mix of exaggeration and slapstick to deliver the humor. The first half of the episode was lacking in the laughs department but once the second act started you couldn't help but laugh at the shenanigans of Cyborg and Beast Boy or the Starfire's confusion of earth customs.
Based on the previews of the second episode I'd say we can expect more silliness and I can't wait!
