Review of Vera Drake

Vera Drake (2004)
8/10
Well worth a view

In terms of storyline and dialogue Vera Drake is amazing, it contains really well acted parts of the scenes which seem so realistic. I personally think this is due to Mike Leigh's technique of directing which incorporates that of improvisation. The story flows at a nice gentle pace and which does not lead to much boredom, the plot is not convoluted and is pretty simple to follow. This is not a negative view as the film contains a lot of a emotion within it. If you like a film that is emotional and yet follows lots of sociological issues within it, this film would definitely swing in your favour.

Overall i think anyone who wants to get away from all the Hollywood whizz bangs should consider Vera drake.
