i did enjoy this film but i am a retard film lover. this film is great for a laugh and i did feel for the charters but alas i wanted to know more. so i read the book. then i felt a little ripped of by this poor adaptation of such a flouncy but yet engaging novel. but i cant help lovin the charters. some great performance buy some great Aussie talent. mel performance is sprightly not like his later sloppy films he seems alive and in love with his craft in this film i am sure the budget for this film was almost non existent a good one for a laugh after a few beers with ya mates. the score is terrible also and mixed very badly. but yet another great thing to laugh at and torture ya mates with. i think this movie trys to be high drama but i see it as one of the great comedies of Australian film history
