The blind-blond masseur
20 September 2004
This film, directed by Takeshi Kitano, is a lot of fun in that it combines the best of the Japanese style comics and brings it to the screen. This is a film for the strong hearted, as some parts are bloody beyond belief, at least for western audiences.

Mr. Kitano is his own leading man. He is wise beyond his blindness. He can see right through an enemy. He is a splendid expert in master arts and gives a mean massage, should anyone contemplate a rub down by this Zatoichi-san.

The film is high camp as we finally arrive at the last sequence where we are treated to the best tap dancing in the world. Zatoichi becomes a kind of Lord of the Rings with a Japanese flavor.

Bravo Takeshi Kitano!
