The Animatrix (2003)
This isn't part of the Matrix trilogy
28 May 2003
I get a kick out of all the people who watched this expecting it to have any tie in to the Wachowski brother's trilogy.

This is a side project for others in the industry to take a familiar idea and take it in they're own direction.

Now I've only seen a couple of shorts in the Animatrix and that was what I stumbled onto late at night on MTV, but what i've seen I enjoyed. The "final flight of the osiris" did tie into the story, but that's all. I personally loved the short where the children found the glitch in the matrix, and just said the place was "haunted." The children were having all sorts of fun, breaking bottles and watching them become whole again. Jumping off ledges and landing inches from the ground. The idea of this one was the imagination of the children was allowing them to bend the rules of the matrix, but they hadn't been "awakened" to the knowlege of their slavery. They were just being children. I don't know if that short made it to the video, but I thought it was briliant.

Just enjoy the fantasy that goes along with the shorts. It's not going to tell you what the Matrix is about. Just to entertain you.
