Absolutely loved it!
20 July 2020
Absolutely loved 'Crazy, Stupid, Love'. It's one of the better romantic comedy that I have seen so far. The story balances humor and sadness so well. It is also brilliantly written and directed, making the story feel heartwarming and uplifting. The humour is perfect for my liking; brilliantly executed by the actors and actresses. The acting performances in 'Crazy, Stupid, Love' was amazing. I was really impressed by the performances of Steve Carrell, Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone. Steve Carell nailed it as Cal, a middle-aged man who looks to reignite his manhood, after his wife asks him for a divorce. Overall, I had a blast watching 'Crazy, Stupid, Love'. I highly recommend it.

Knives Out (2019)
8/10
Thoroughly entertaining murder mystery/whodunit
15 June 2020
"Knives Out" is a modern whodunit written and directed by Rian Johnson. "Knives Out" follows a family gathering gone wrong, when the death of a wealthy crime novelist, Harlan Thrombey, leads a world-famous private detective, Benoit Blanc to investigate.

"Knives Out" is a cleverly constructed movie that I thoroughly enjoyed. I really loved Rian Johnson's approach to storytelling in "Knives Out" - very captivating and creative. The twists in "Knives Out" were brilliantly delivered and perfectly executed. The characters in "Knives Out" each has their own distinct personality, which makes the movie even more fascinating.

"Knives Out" also feature an impressive ensemble of terrific actors and actresses - including Daniel Craig, Chris Evans, Ana de Armas, Jamie Lee Curtis, Michael Shannon, Don Johnson, Toni Collette, Lakeith Stanfield, Katherine Langford, Jaeden Martell, and Christopher Plummer. Their performances were terrific. Special mentions to Daniel Craig (Benoit Blanc), Ana de Armas (Marta Cabrera), and Chris Evans (Hugh Ransom).

Overall, "Knives Out" is a fun and enjoyable movie. If you are into murder mysteries, give "Knives Out" a watch. I highly recommend it.

A beautiful and enchanting animation!
12 June 2020
"Song of the Sea" is a story inspired by the Celtic folklore tradition of the selkie. The story primarily focuses on Ben and his little sister Saoirse. Together, they go on an adventure to free the fairies and save the spirit world.

"Song of the Sea" tells a really beautiful story through the use of gorgeous 2D animation. I really love how the movie developed the brother-sister relationship between Ben and Saoirse. "Song of the Sea" is also moving and heartfelt. It has a really touching ending that moved me to tears.

"Song of the Sea" kinda reminded me of "Spirited Away". There are definitely some parallels between the two movies. Even the character design of Macha from "Song of the Sea", bears a striking resemblance to Yubaba from "Spirited Away".

The animation is spectacular and visually-mesmerizing. The animators did an amazing job of creating and designing an atmosphere that feels enchanting and magical. The use of colors is also very good in "Song of the Sea".

The soundtrack for "Song of the Sea" is amazing. It does a very good job of setting the tone and mood for the movie. Very soothing and beautiful.

The voice acting in "Song of the Sea" is delivered and performed brilliantly. I am really impressed by the voice acting of David Rawle (Ben), Brendan Gleeson (Conor/Mac Lir) and Fionnula Flanagan (Granny/Macha).

Overall, "Song of the Sea" is a beautiful and enchanting animation. It's a movie that is perfect for both children and adults. I highly recommend it.

Anomalisa (2015)
7/10
A depressing and heartfelt character study
8 June 2020
Anomalisa tells a story about a customer service expert/author, Michael Stone, who has difficulties connecting with others in his day-to-day life until he met someone special during his business trip to Cincinnati.

Anomalisa gives audiences a very insightful look at a man's battle with depression, loneliness, and melancholy. It is implied in the movie that Michael is suffering from Fregoli delusion - a rare disorder in which a person holds a delusional belief that different people are a single person who changes appearance or is in disguise. I thought the movie did a great job in highlighting this disorder that is tormenting Michael.

The movie is largely driven by captivating dialogues and conversations which gives audiences a deeper understanding of the character. Part of what makes the dialogues and conversations so captivating is the use of voice. In the movie, David Thewlis, Jennifer Jason Leigh, and Tom Noonan delivered brilliant and enchanting voice-acting performances. David Thewlis's performance as Michael was a stand-out as his emotions could be felt through the use of his voice.

The movie made use of animation/stop-motion as a medium to tell its story. I thought it was brilliantly-animated - with very good use of lighting. The camera work is also brilliant and much appreciated.

I think the movie's pacing is an issue here. Some of the scenes dragged on for way too long and served little to no purpose.

Overall, Anomalisa is an interesting character study that is depressing and heartfelt. It is not perfect in any way, but it still deserves to be watched.

Justice League Dark (2017 Video)
4/10
A very mediocre DCAU movie
6 June 2020
Justice League Dark sees Batman and other superheroes from the Justice League setting out to investigate the violent murders of innocent citizens and fight against the evil powers.

Justice League Dark is a very mediocre movie (in comparison to other movies in the DCAU). The plot of the movie is dull and uninteresting. It didn't manage to captivate me enough to keep me interested. Also, I felt that the fight sequences were not executed properly - lacked creativity and somewhat rushed.

The Justice League makes a very brief appearance in this movie, which is somewhat disappointing. The movie is largely centered around characters such as Batman, John Constantine, Zatanna, Boston Brand and Jason Blood. Swamp Thing also makes an appearance in Justice League Dark. I would have loved to see more of Swamp Thing in this movie.

However, I thought the voice acting was terrific. I thought Matt Ryan did an awesome job in portraying John Constantine. The other voice actors and actresses did an amazing job as well.

The animation/art-style is also something you would expect from a DCAU movie. It's decent, but not great.

Overall, Justice League Dark is watchable to a certain extent. Some scenes felt rushed and choppy, which really affected the viewing experience. It's not something that I would watch again. I hope that Justice League Dark: Apokolips War (sequel to Justice League Dark) can live up to my expectations.

Megamind (2010)
7/10
A very entertaining animation movie
2 June 2020
Megamind tells a story about a supervillain named Megamind, who creates a superhero who becomes evil, forcing Megamind to turn into a hero.

What I like about Megamind is that it is a redemption story told in a fun and entertaining way. The story itself pokes fun at some of the cliches of the superhero genre, which was pretty hilarious. Speaking of hilarious, the whole movie is pretty darn hilarious. Will Ferrell's amazing comedic performance can be felt through his remarkable voice acting. I thought Jonah Hill's performance as Titan was also very funny and comical. Overall, Megamind is a good and enjoyable movie that is perfect for both kids and adults. I definitely look forward to watching this movie again in the future.

A movie with a powerful and relevant message
2 June 2020
BlacKkKlansman is a movie about Ron Stallworth, an African-American detective, embarking on a mission to infiltrate his town's chapter of the Ku Klux Klan. BlacKkKlansman did an amazing job in conveying a powerful message to the audience. Spike Lee creatively balances humour and seriousness in BlacKkKlansman, which I thought was amazing. Also, the acting was incredible. I thought both John David Washington and Adam Driver delivered an amazingly convincing performance as Colorado Springs police officers. The story was also great, although this movie suffers from minor pacing issues which slowed the movie down a tad bit. Overall, I think BlacKkKlansman is a movie that is very relevant in today's day and age, and everyone should get a chance to see this movie.

Hail, Caesar! (2016)

A delightful glimpse at 1950s cinema
1 June 2020
Hail, Caesar is a movie that gives audiences a delightful glimpse at 1950s cinema. It's presented in a way that is interesting and entertaining. I went into this movie with very low expectations, and it's fair to say that this movie surpassed my expectations. In terms of cinematography, this movie was shot beautifully, which really left me mesmerized. In terms of acting, I thought Josh Brolin delivered an amazing and convincing performance as Eddie Mannix, a fixer for Capitol Pictures in Hollywood. Also, I thought Alden Ehrenreich did a great job as Hobie Doyle. Very impressive performance. This movie has sequences that were very well-cherographed and brilliantly excuted, that left me in awe. The production design of this movie is also marvelous. Overall, Hail Caesar is a great movie that gave me a tasteful and insightful glimpse at 1950s cinema.

A well-acted and well-written crime thriller
30 May 2020
Reservoir Dogs ranks as one of my favourite Quentin Tarantino movie. Firstly, I thought the cast was great. Their performances were incredibly well-acted. I was really drawn in by their performances and the actors delivered it in a way that captivates me. Special mention to Tim Roth and Harvey Keital - both delivered an amazing performance. Next, the dialogue was fantastic. I felt that the dialogue was written in a way that was entertaining and natural. Through the dialogue, audiences get to know more about the characters. Also, the way Quentin Tarantino tells the story is amazing and unique. I like that the story was told in a non-linear way. Very interesting. Overall, a great crime thriller that left me on the edge of my seat.

A fitting conclusion to the trilogy
30 May 2020
The Hangover Part III is a funny comedy that concludes the trilogy perfectly. It's not as good as Part I, but it was definitely better than Part II. It's definitely not as bad as the IMDB user ratings suggested it to be. I thought it had funny and comical moments that made me laughed. Sure, some of the humour didn't land well, but it didn't bother me that much. Overall, it's an enjoyable movie that perfectly wraps up the trilogy.

The School of Rock is a feel good movie with a lot of heart. The School of Rock is really inspiring and uplifting - it inspired me to overcome adversity and break stereotypes. Jack Black delivered an amazing performance that really connected with me. He did it in a way that was charismatic and captivating, which I am sure a lot of people would love. Jack Black's comedic timing is also topnotch, which makes this movie even more enjoyable and funny. Overall, it's a really great and inspiring movie for the family. Definitely will rewatch it in the future.

One of my favourite comedy
30 May 2020
Keanu is a funny and humorous movie that left me feeling very entertained. The humor in this movie was perfect for my liking. If you love the 'Key and Peele' sketches, you will find this movie entertaining. I thought both Jordan Peele and Keegan-Michael Key delivered an amazing comedic performance that left me laughing out loud. Keanu has a simple story that is brilliantly executed. The pacing of the movie was perfect. Overall, its a movie that really clicked with me and I see myself rewatching this movie in the near future.

A creative and enjoyable movie
30 May 2020
Scott Pilgrim vs. the World is a thoroughly enjoyable movie that left me entertained and satisfied. There were so many things that I liked about this movie. Firstly, I thought that the transitions were fantastic and creative. Next, I really liked the 'comicbook aesthetic' of the movie. I thought it blended in very well with the movie and it was done in a way that was appropriate and not 'over the top'.

However, I felt that some of the character developments were underdeveloped and could have been developed even further. The movie failed to develop the characters in a way that made them compelling. I was also somewhat disappointed by the ending. I felt that it was rushed.

Overall, I thought it was a creative and enjoyable movie that I would definitely rewatch in the future.

A beautifully animated and well-produced movie
30 May 2020
The Adventures of Tintin is a beautifully animated and well-produced movie. The visuals were mesmerizing and breathtaking, which contributes to an immersive cinematic experience. I really love some of the transitions they did in the movie. It was very creative and smooth. The soundtrack for this movie is amazing as well. Very beautiful and fitting. Some of the action sequences were very well choreographed, which left me thoroughly entertained. However, I felt that some of the action sequences dragged on for too long, and could have been executed in a more concise manner.
