Harold and Maude (1971)
Nope, didn't like it
Watched it because of the hype, greatly disappointed. Harold is an extremely creepy manboy, a brat obsessed with death. Neither he or Maud are likeable and every other minute a Cat Stevens song comes on. A very un-funny comedy to me. He probably ends up as a serial killer after the movie ends.
Somebody Somewhere (2022)
Love it!
A female lead character who is both overweight and without makeup, now that's something you don't see every day. Only seen two episodes but loves this feel good, funny series. It's like After Life only Sam does not constantly wallow in self pity and is actually nice to other people. And you don't have to listen to the c-word constantly. What's not to like?
Exterminate All the Brutes (2021)
Brilliant, brutal and should be part of school curriculum everywhere
Ignore the whataboutism in the bad reviews here, this should not be missed if you are in the least interested in history and what is happening in the world today. "Nothing new" they say, but I see myself as a reasonable educated person and this certainly gave me many new insights and revelations. "Boring" they say, but it's not at all, it kept my interest up through all the episodes. I'm not keen on the voiceover, but I get that the director tells his own story, so nobody else could have done it. Also I find the animated parts unnecessary, but other than that i'ts a 10. Very surprised to see the low ratings, but it just shows that it's controversial and that it hit home.
NOS4A2 (2019)
Better than the reviews
I liked it! Haven't read the book though, but will now. Zachary Quinto is mesmerizing as Charlie Manx, and I liked his back story in S2. Would have liked to find out how he came across the wraith though, and his link to the car. The series kept me enough interested to binge both seasons and I would have welcomed a third. Liked the concept of the world of thought vs the physical world, and inscapes. Love the music too, it sets the mood perfectly.
Marrowbone (2017)
Not impressed
Only chose to see this because of Charlie Heaton, but the premise sounded interesting. First part of the film had me confused most of the time; who is "he", and what did he do? What's with the mirrors? Why didn't they just take down the big mirror? Why didn't he shoot his dad instead of locking him up and leaving him to die? Hated the twist and the ending. But the acting was good, it was beautifully shot and quite an engaging story.
Partisan (2020)
Waste of time
Nope, didn't like it but I watched all episodes anyway. I see nothing excellent here neither acting or otherwise. The last episode is a major disappointment, extremely slow, a lot of walking in tunnels and characters making strange decisions. If you want to escape, why choose to run in a field for every one to see? Why did Johnny turn back? When he had dealt the final blow, why did he stay and drag the body away? And the final fisticuffs, just a lot of groaning and huffing and puffing and rolling around on the ground.
Legion (2017)
I give up...
Seen two episodes, Dan Stevens is great but it's too messy, endless dream sequenses and the story not moving ahead very much. Didn't capture my interest enough to keep watching.
Mystery Road (2018)
Nope, didn't like
I tuned in to see Sofia Helin in ep 1 of season 2. Sorry to say it was a major disappointment and I won't tune in again.
DNA (2019)
Good enough for me
Found it rather addictive actually. Easily forgotten, but pretty good entertainment for a couple of hours.
