Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One (2023)
Good not Great, Ink Printer not Laser.
Mission Impossible delivers breathtaking moments of exhilaration and suspense, captivating audiences with its high-octane action sequences and impressive stunts. While the film's narrative may have encountered some challenges in terms of cohesion, the charismatic performances and thrilling set pieces more than make up for it. Despite occasional pacing issues, the movie's adrenaline-pumping moments manage to leave a lasting impression. While the storyline's construction could have been more refined, the film's overall entertainment value prevails, making it a worthwhile and enjoyable cinematic experience for action enthusiasts.
Avengers: Infinity War (2018)
Too Predictable.
Action is amazing. The story is terrible. Everyone knows that more than half the superhero's killed are coming back. Marvel already announced Spider-Man's, Black Panther, Guardians of the galaxy sequels. This movie would have been exponentially better if none of the sequels were announced AND they killed off one of the main avengers from the first movie.
Also, thanks has no backstory. Yes, there have been glimpses here and there as end credits in the previous movies but an actual exposition about his motives and how truly powerful he is, is nowhere to be seen. The movie seems to disjointed and The new Justice League is far superior to this movie.
Zack Snyder's Justice League (2021)
Best Superhero movie
Ignore the haters. Ignore the marvel enthusiasts. zack Snyder's Justice League is better than all the marvel movies combined. Each character had a substantive character arc; unlike marvel movies that are geared towards more action and silly jokes, the justice league is a lot more relatable and realistic. The action and music is magnificent. Flash, Cyborg, and Aquaman actually have important roles in the movie. The 4 hours do not seem that long at all. I really wish Zack Snyder comes back to direct the future justice league movies. Warner bros need to grow a pair and let this man make the movies according to his vision.
Interstellar (2014)
Best theater experience
I was dragged to this film by my friend when it first came out. I hadn't watched the trailer nor known that Chris Nolan has directed another movie. We watched it in 70 mm IMAX in San Fransisco and it left me awestruck. It was by far the best cinematic experience I've ever had.
The Last Kingdom (2015)
One of the best shows on TV
My kids will watch this show. Uthred and his companions- finan, sihtrich, and osforth- are the quintessential virtuous men who live not for fame, glory, money, but by unremitting commitment to their values. They ask nothing in return. The means is the end for them, and that is what makes these brave men the most dangerous and feared, on the one hand, and adored and loved on the other. Destiny is All.
Many people have compared it to Game of Thrones. Game of Thrones discards, or rather undermines the permanence and importance of virtue in politics and power. It demonstrates that human beings are essentially motivated by their own individual desires, and virtue is nothing but that desire being shared by others as well. If one does have true convictions in the welfare of others, it is a futile endeavor and they will never succeed (Jon Snow, Eddard Stark, Varys) The Last Kingdom, however, values and cherishes the importance of virtue. The life truly worth living is one in which a man acts with conviction with what is right and true. Their legacies will prevail, their importance will be noted, and their bravery will vanquish evil (Ugreth, Alfred, his daughter, Beocca, etc). In other words, a virtuous life is substantive and will yield great results. In Game of thrones, this is not the case.
Game of Thrones: The Last of the Starks (2019)
...And now GoT's watch has ended.
Many fans of GoT already know that the show has been on a decline since season 5. However, this episode is on a whole other level in terms of mediocrity. These are the reasons why:
1) The reaction to the revelation of Jon's true identity to Sansa and Arya was completely blacked out. Their reaction should've been showed precisely because they've been a major part of his story arc, more so than dany who he just met in episode 7. It could be well argued that their reaction is more important than showing Dany'a reaction. You can't just leave out a significant moment like that.
2) How did Dany not see Euron's fleet?
3) The 30 minute party episode accomplished what exactly?
4) Jaimie's arc was probably the best in GoT. His character has depth, nuance and was transformed over the seasons slowly and meticulously. And The director and writers destroyed it within seconds. And The sex scene was just gross.
5) Gendry's a beta male all of the sudden? Pleading Arya to be his wife. What the hell?
6) Where in the world did Bronn come from and know where to find the two brothers exactly at the convenient moment? Where is he now after Tyrion leaves to dragonstone and Jaimie stays back?
7) All those episodes following bran to the north and him becoming a three eyed raven was for what reason exactly? He seems to have absolutely no role. Poor Jojen died for nothing.
8) Sansa cries profusely for theon's death but doesn't shed a tear for her youngest brother Rickon's death.
9) Jon snow always knew what was right. He willingly opposed or followed people because he always fought for the greater good. How does he not see that Dany is clearly insane and cares about only one thing: the iron throne? And yet he calls her my queen and begs her to not let his true identity bother her.
In conclusion: Miguel sapochnok should've directed this episode instead of Nutter. The creators should've extended Season 7 and 8 to at least 9 seasons with ten episodes each. The show writers foolishly destroyed tyrion, Jaimie, littlefinger, and Jon snow's arc. And GoT's watch has ended.
