Love, Victor (2020)
A must watch!
A follow up from the movie Love, Simon, this series is a must watch for anybody, but especially for the young LGBTQ community.
I absolutely loved the movie, but I think this is even better. It's exactly what I needed when I was younger, and whilst I'm a little annoyed that it wasn't around for me then, it is around now for the younger generation.
I'm not going to spoil the story in this review, I'm just going to say, watch it and experience it for yourself. It is simply brilliant!
Hard Target (1993)
Shocker
I'm not going into too much detail, because it would take a long time to explain why I hated it enough to give it a 2.
It was really over the top with fight scenes. Every person requires 50 bullets (from the same clip) to die, with some still standing after being turned into a human sieve only to receive a final fatal kick to the face. It was tolerable in parts, because it actually had a plot. What finished it for me, was the introduction of Wilford Brimley. As soon as I heard the shocking French accent, it was over.
Captain Marvel (2019)
Very entertaining!
Some of the reviews on here are way too harsh. The movie was very entertaining and well written. It has bucket loads of action and humour, and the acting was excellent.
There is just no pleasing some people...
Baisers cachés (2016)
Incredible
How have I never heard of this film before now. It is simply amazing. Every aspect of this movie brings back memories, both happy and sad.
It's the true to life, coming of age story of two teenage boys coming to terms with their sexuality, and the impact that has on their lives. It's beautifully written, and the acting is flawless. A truly inspiring movie.
I'm not going to lie, you will cry, but you will cry happy tears also! Please, please watch this movie.
Jack Ryan (2018)
Much better than Homeland!
Excellent series. Well thought out story line with impeccable acting. Slightly predictable towards the final two episodes, but very entertaining. Can't wait for the next season! 10/10.
Just Charlie (2017)
A gem
I'm just going to touch on the ending. Many people say it shouldn't have been included, but I disagree. Whilst I didn't like it, I think it was necessary. A young person in a similar situation may see this film and learn from it. Without that ending, they may make the same mistake. Kids can be cruel, and that shouldn't be overlooked.
I think it's a very well written film that shows the day to day problems a young trans person may face.
I was in a very dark place when I was younger, and watching 'Beautiful Thing' changed my life. This film is a gem, and I hope it will do for others what Beautiful Thing did for me.
10/10
Immortals (2011)
Hyperion a mortal?
I have been waiting to see this film for a long time. I love Greek mythology, and films based on it. This was disappointing.
Hyperion was one of the twelve titans, not a mortal. There was twelve titans, not 24. You had to guess which God was which (aside from the obvious ones). In a movie which is based on Gods and Titans, you'd expect to see ALL the Gods and Godesses. Why did the Titans look so pathetic, they were funny to watch rather than scary. No mention of Kronos.
If you went into this movie without knowing anything about Greek mythology, then you wouldn't be disappointed, overall it was very entertaining and the visuals were amazing.
I will still buy this on DVD/Blu-ray when it comes out, but I'll be disappointed each time I watch it... It could have been so much better than this. Huge potential, huge letdown.
