Bridgerton (2020)
It's Entertainment, Not A History Lesson. Enjoy the show.
To those that say it's not historically accurate, a la the mixed cast, I say so what? It got me to imagining what an integrated world at the time might have meant for us now. It's "Emily in Paris" across the Channel at an earlier time and I loved Emily in Paris. The deeper you get into the story, the more enticing and fun it becomes. It goes without saying that the visuals are sumptuous but the script/plot are fine as well too. Highly recommended.
Valley Uprising (2014)
Pure Excitement
I've lived within a five hour drive of Yosemite for the last 40 years; didn't have a clue that this incredible scene was going on. Thanks to Alex H, those days are over and "Valley Uprising's" a great showcase for what I missed. Fascinating to watch the steady progression of technique and skills to the "free solo" masterpieces of today. Particularly enjoy watching the ladies climb; w/o question this sport is an equal opportunity employer. The Base Jump finale is the best ending to a film, ever. Bravo Zulu!
The Rise of the Krays (2015)
Garbage
Why do they make crapola like this? Pure garbage. May u rot in hell
Everest (2015)
Not Believable
Why do film makers need to embellish true events? You can't find a more dramatic and interesting subject than this event, yet they always go "Hollywood" perhaps to show their brilliance? Case in point: first ascent out of base camp the expedition is hit with an avalanche; 50 pound chucks of ice flying down the mountain at 50 MPH, literally smashing into & knocking over multiple climbers. In the real world that's known as DOA. In the Hollywood world the leader cries out "is everyone OK?" In the Hollywood world, Not A Scratch. "We're fine" they all say and resume the climb. That's when I checked out and U should too!
Apocalypto (2006)
Magnificent subject - Trash movie
What a pile of junk! One unbelievable scene after another. Gibson has a very low opinion of his viewers. If you like comedies, there's a yuck a minute in this one. Otherwise, don't waste your time. A total insult to your intelligence. What's the deal with Hollywood movie makers? A well made movie about the Mayan civilization and/or it's demise should be a film maker's dream. Instead, we are asked to check our brains at the door and get bombarded with stupidity. One example: our hero is seen "outrunning" a jaguar, shortly after pulling a deeply embedded arrow out of his back. Unfortunately, there's lot's more like this. If you're going to make a fairy tale, label it as such. This film raises lots of questions about "previous" Gibson efforts and the gullibility of the masses.
