Bonanza: Any Friend of Walter's (1963)
Cool dog
Here is another show with Arthur Hunnicutt in it, El Dorado & even the Andy Griffith show he was a great actor. The dog Walter in this Bonanza Episode I think is the same dog used in Season5, Episode 6 of Andy Griffith & Barney called him Blue. Both shows the dog seems to be out of it & not much good to Barney or Obie so close to Opie. Both Episodes are worth the watch & make you laugh which is a good thing. Shame a lot the the good actors are gone but the old shows keep them alive in our hearts.
The Andy Griffith Show: The New Housekeeper (1960)
A Happy Day for Opie
As always the first episode is a good one & starts the shows history. Andy needs help with his son Opie & Aunt Bee should fill the bill but Opie wants Rose back. So from the start Opie is alittle pain in the -- about Aunt Bee but Andy wants it to work out. Aunt Bee doesn't seem to be able to do anything fish, play baseball & when she leaves Opies bird cage open & pinky flies away Aunt Bee figures it's time to go. But as she starts to leave Opie changes the way he fells & wants her to stay so he can teach her how to do things. Everyone is happy & even the bird comes back. I wish in away Andy would have stayed closer to Opie in later shows he seemed to have distanced him self from a loving dad. I think this started in the second season just when you think a hug would help it's not there. Maybe I'am just remembering how close my dad was to me I was 12 when this show aired. Well still my favorite espiode!
The Andy Griffith Show: Opie and His Merry Men (1963)
RobinHood? Or something for nothing.
Good episode on right & wrong & the way to handle it. The kids in town are playing in the woods like Robin Hood & his merry men when the come across a hobo camping. What are you kids doing? playing Robin Hood, do you know what Robin did ? He helped the poor by taking from the rich & can you guys help me. So the boys start taking food from there homes and giving it to him, apple pie,a ham & Andy gets calls about food missing. Andy ask Opie does he know anything about it & Opie tells him about the hobo & his game leg & how they are helping him.Where is this guy Opie gets upset thinking his dad will be like the sheriff in Robin Hood & arrest him. Andy assures him he wants to help & Opie is exciting & everyone goes to the woods. When they arrive Andy tells the hobo they are thereto help in finding him a job so he can get back on his feet. Hobo wants none of that & takes off running Opie turns & sees he is OK & knows now he was lying. The story is the same today with some people.
The Andy Griffith Show: The Darling Baby (1964)
Planned marriage
Well the Darlings are back & with the idea of finding a future husband for Charlene's baby girl. Another mountain tradition, of course Opie turns out to be the target & Andy is alittle upset. Briscoe Darling is sure Opie will be the right one & will not listen to Andy. Andy suggest that they do some picking & maybe it will be cleared up. I guess Aunt Bee was on vacation no sign of her getting involved. As there picking Barney samples the mulberry squeezins & as always Barney gets wasted & starts to interfere with the whole process. Andy & Opie deceide to use a trick Opie used with lemon juice as disappearing ink. When it time to sign the papers Andy says a few words which he tells Briscoe is a family tradition. Andy & Opie sign & within 10 seconds both signatures disappear. The Darlings get spooked, the deal is off & out the door they run. Barney is still trying to stop it & the squeezins are doing the talking. Funny episode and as usual Don Knotts makes the whole thing funny!
The Andy Griffith Show: Barney and the Governor (1963)
Dedication,Duty&Drunk
Barney writes a ticket on the governor's car because of the old guys teasing him that he won't. Finds out from the mayor that the governor is coming to Mayberry to see him. Otis comes in drunk & to hide the booze he has dumps it into the water cooler. Barney is upset & start drinking what he thinks is just water & he gets wasted.Andy comes in looking for him & asked Otis have you seen Barney & he points to back room. Andy flips out & takes Barney home for cold showers & pots of coffee to sober him up. Between the two of them they figure out Otis spiked the cooler. They go back to jail & the governor is there & thanks Barney for doing his job.But where's the Mayor? They find him smashed in the back room he had been drinking the water too! Just a funny episode & Mayor Stoner gets his for being so tuff on Andy, since he arrived as new Mayor.
The Andy Griffith Show: The Big House (1963)
Keystone Cops
This is a good episode proves if Andy wasn't around Barney could never keep prisoners locked up. There are 2 robbers the State police leave at the jail while looking for 2 others. Barney make Gomer a deputy & this just adds to the comedy of errors & goof ups! Andy puts Gomer on roof as a lookout position & he drops his gun & it breaks not a big surprise. So Andy tells Barney to stay with Gomer in hopes this will keep them out of trouble. Well 2 state police come back in hopes the prisoners friends will try to break them out. So they take position next to jail & Barney sees them, thinks they are the other robbers & arrest them. Barney won't listen to them when they try to explain who they are. As Barney puts them in a cell there friends take Barney's gun & puts him in the cell too. Surprise! Surprise! Well Andy saves the day again & arrest all 4 as they try to escape,as Andy walks in with them he says great plan Barney we got them all! This is so the state police think Barney is a smart cop & looks like the hero. Seeing George Kennedy early in his career was like so many other actors on the show who became famous stars.
The Andy Griffith Show: The Rivals (1963)
Young love
We were all there at one time or another, like a girl & she doesn't seem to know your alive. So Opie thinks of everything to impress Karen a girl in his class at school. He does hand stands to impress her & wants to carry her books but nothing seems to help. So a talk with his dad & he asks how can he get Karen to like Him? just be yourself. Well Andy mentions to Barney about Opie & he tells Andy about Vicky Harms who he liked & would give her some of his ice cone. You know what she would do! Bit off the bottom of the cone & suck out all the syrup! Boy that made me made you can't trust a woman. One day Opie is outside the grocery store & Thelma Lou walks out & Opie is trying to impress Karen by doing handstands. So she asked Opie if he would carry her bags to her house & she will bake some cup cakes. Opie found a new Girl & Karen notices Opie lost interest in her. But Opie finds out a grown woman is alittle different fast & Barney gets upset because Opie seems to have stolen his girl. When Opie comes to his dad & ask what can you do with a grown woman? because Thelma Lou is his girl now. What a moment,of course Andy makes being with her is going shopping, going to her mothers house to visit all boring things you have to do,what! Opie says no bike riding or a cowboy movie no they like the other things better. But all ends well when Opie goes outside the jail & Karen is there, so they decide to go to the cowboy movie. Opie goes back in & says that Karen & him are going to a movie & could he break the news to Thelma Lou that he is seeing Karen now. No problem I think she will be OK with it. Young love wins over again.
The Andy Griffith Show: The Keeper of the Flame (1962)
Fired Up!
This episode shows how things can change fast & how the blame for those changes comes down. I guess kids have always had secret clubs of some kind but adding the secret flame increases the risk of trouble. In this case Opie & his pals were innocent but they looked quilty & Andy assumed the worst. Jubal Foster says the kids started the fire to cover his moonshinning & the alcohol fueled the flames. So because Andy thinks it was Opie he goes to pay for the barn & of course Barney walks around & takes a drink of what he thinks is water. Well it's not,it's shine & Barney gets wasted Andy figures it out & Jubal is arrested but not before he has to help get Barney to the car. Andy,s apology to Opie is good, letting him know he made a mistake by not believing in him. Everett Sloan who was Jubal wrote the lyrics for the Andy Griffith show but were never used.
The Andy Griffith Show: Andy the Matchmaker (1960)
To catch a thief!
Barney(Don Knotts) shows in this episode why he was a 5 time Emmy winner. His timing & Andy as the straight man worked perfectly. The scene where he is quitting & Andy asks why because of a poem that Opie wrote. Barney reads it & Andy quacks up Opie comes in & when Barney finds out Opie couldn't do it because he hasn't learned to write yet the look on Barney's face tells it all. He is still quitting until Miss Rosemary comes in an says how important his job is his confidence returns. Andy thinks he needs more confidence an a fake robbery is the answer so he tells Ellie to report a robbery & Barney shows up.Out comes the finger print kit along with the powder all over Barney & everything else another good scene. Andy hoping this will keep Barney busy for days looking to find the thief. Next thing you know Barney brings in a guy he thinks was the robber & Andy is surprised an not sure what to do. The guy wants to know why he was arrested & will sue for false arrest Andy figures he better check on him & finds out he is wanted for other crimes in Chattanooga. Barney got his man! The story ends up in the local paper & Barney is the hero! He is at Andy's house when Miss Rosemary comes by & after some talking Andy talks Barney (Mr. Confidence) into asking Miss Rosemary on a date. Last episode for Miss Rosemary I guess the date didn't go well.
The Andy Griffith Show: The Return of Malcolm Merriweather (1964)
Englishman Returns
This is a great episode Bernard Fox is terrific& returns to help out Aunt Bee. Of course everything doesn't go as planned, but watching things go from good to bad is the fun. Malcolm does it all & Aunt Bee feels like the extra wheel on the wagon. The food he prepares seems perfect for Andy & Barney & it seems they have forgotten about Aunt Bee & her tuna fish sandwiches. Opie likes having him back even though he has to take baths more often.Everythings going smooth until Opie hears Malcolm singing as he's working & says Aunt Bee use to sing to but not lately. Malcolm figures it out Aunt Bee is not happy just sitting around & doing nothing & feels she is not needed. This is where the fun starts with Malcolm pretending to be drunk from drinking the cooking sherry & serving cold soup to fallen down. Barney says he fell off the wagon but Andy suspects something else & smells the sherry in the sink. Aunt Bee comes down from her bedroom to see what's going on Andy says you not sick? & everything is a mess in the kitchen. Of course Malcolm faked it so as to leave & Aunt Bee is BACK! Andy knows what he did & thanks him for it great ending! Bernard Fox is a guy you like right off & his accent helps a lot. Loved him in Hogan's Heroes, the Mummy Returns & other shows thru his career. Wish we had shows like this now.
The Andy Griffith Show: The Mayberry Band (1962)
The Band
This is a great episode Barney with the symbols is enough to wake the dead & of course he thinks he is good enough for John P Sousa's band. Watching the band rehearse is breath taking to say the lest some of the members can't hear & everyone are off key. But the mayor shows up to see how well they sound & guest what no trip to band competition Surprise! Just when you think there is no way then can get it together Freddy Fleet & his band come to town. Well Andy & Barney figure a way to make Freddy help them by drumming up some kind of rule so they have to stay & help the Mayberry screw ups. So they wear the town uniforms & March in front of the mayor & boy to they sound good the mayor can't believe it & agrees to let them go. Of course the day they leave while pulling away in the bus they start playing & the mayor knows he was duped. The actor who played Freddy Fleet Joesph Sirola just passed 2-10-19.
The Andy Griffith Show: Ernest T. Bass Joins the Army (1963)
Bass as usual
The Nut returns & this time its for an Army uniform why because of a girl & how this will help him get her. Sure it will,of course the Army will take anyone but not this time as Barney says he's a nut & the Sargent tells Bass they don't need him.Well the fun starts here the rocks start flying & glass is breaking & Andy knows he got to stop him & finds out it is all about a uniform. Doesn't matter what kind just something that looks official & important doesn't even need to fit. Always a problem when Bass comes to town & he is always getting out of jail & Barney & Andy can't figure it out. Finally Andy tells Barney he is about Ernest T's size & take off your uniform What! Barney goes ballistic you can't do this it was special made for me.Guess what Barney you lose & Ernest T gets his uniform & Barney is wrapped in a blanket watching him leave & hearing that insidious laugh. I think a bath, shave & haircut would have helped more!
The Andy Griffith Show: The Perfect Female (1961)
Women shooters
Nice to see that women where into skeet shooting even if people thought it was a mans sport. Of course Barney doesn't believe Andy is really trying to win as to not show up Karen. But again he puts his foot in his own mouth & Andy feels the same way about himself that he was beat by a better shooter female & that's OK with him. I like the way it ends with Karen using a pistol & of course Barney steps up & boom the gun goes off in his holster like always. I liked this episode but not a favorite but you can't always ask for good ones all the time.
The Andy Griffith Show: Bringing Up Opie (1961)
We all did it!
Never fails just when Opie is having a good time Aunt Bee thinks he talks like a small adult. So to keep Opie from the surroundings of the jail she has him start a garden. Of course this becomes boring & like pulling weeds when I was his age we find something else to get into. Andy & Barney think at first it is a good idea but miss Opie coming around & wonder what he is up too. Good example of what a 7 year old will get into kicking a can & looking for something to do. Runs into another boy with apples & starts eating not thinking about time falls asleep in the back of a truck. Next thing you know no one has seen Opie & everyone gets worried & upset. Thank goodness the owner of truck finds him asleep in the back & calls Andy to let him know. How many times that use to happen back than go play all day & forget the time & your friends mother would call your house & tell your parents you were there. Of course that didn't always stop a whipping. But all ends on a good note & Opie can come back to the jail anytime which makes him Happy! Liked this episode brought back memories & wish for those times again!
The Andy Griffith Show: Otis Sues the County (1964)
Barney & his paperwork
Here we go again Otis in jail cell & as he leaves trips & falls gets up he is OK but Barney wants an accident report. Now a sleazy lawyer gets wind of it & wants Otis to sue the county saying it will help get better things for the sheriffs office. Andy receives a letter saying a law suit has been filled.Andy talks to Floyd because he was there & of course his memory is as bad as his haircuts & doesn't remember to much. Barney gets a idea to get Otis to admitt he is OK, places a tape recorder in cell & Otis comes in drunk with a bottle & both end up smashed & recorder proves it. Day of law suit Otis remembers what happened & tells how he tripped over his coat & he is OK. County attorney dismisses the suite no thanks to Barney & his accident report another case of the BARNEY going to far. Nip it in the BUD
The Andy Griffith Show: Andy's English Valet (1963)
Love this episode!
This is one of my favorites! Bernard Fox playing Malcolm Merriweather & making Andy & Opie dressing for dinner & Opie taking a bath even before Saturday.Malcohm coming to America to see our country & meeting people is cool. When talking to Andy & saying you look a bit Clem I guess that means hungry & makes them lunch.I have recorded this episode just to watch when feeling alittle down. I came from a small town & makes me think of the good times back when this show aired 1963. These times are gone & it's a shame but the Andy Griffith Show takes you back there if you are old enough to remember.
The Blob (1958)
The Blob
Funny I saw this today Easter 2017. I was 10 yr's old when made & lived in Spring City about 8 miles from Phoenixville . I would go to the movies every weekend at the Colonial Theater & had a great time. Hard to believe it became a cult film. I remember my parents going to the Downingtown Diner to eat which is where the last scenes were shot.Haven't been back there in a lot of yr's now live in Florida. Nothing like the good old day's I hear they have a Blob Day & do the scene where everyone runs out the theater. I still like to watch!!
