Midnight Mass (2021)
Midnight Mass
We are lead into the lives and mind of people we might otherwise write off as crazy and I wonder if we can actually trust the people around me if stuff like this ever happened in real life I wouldn't even trust myself.
It's so real, the characters are believable and you understand them even if you don't agree with them, and it still has that supernatural element that helps make it very creepy.
The many dialouges are much needed and earned for the severity of the following situations to hit harder and spark a bit of thought in the viewers own mind.
And not to mention the themes that are discussed, you don't get further from shallow teen-romance dialouge than this.
I got this show recommended to me and in the beginning I was sitting and drawing with the TV on but at the end I was at the edge of my seat.
It ended up being the single most disturbing piece of tv I have ever seen. Well done! :)
Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time (2020)
Crash 4 It's About Time
The art is a sure standout with atmospheric landscapes that make areas so destinct you can almost smell them.
Even the music plays in to the rythm of the levels at times and makes it near impossible not to jam along with it.
The game introduces multiple new story elements and gameplay mechanics which the game explores fully and in unique and creative ways.
The story is fun and over the top granting some characters more personality than you could ever ask for, while others might've benefit from being taken more seriously.
Replayability is at an all time high as there's always something new for you to earn when going back into levels, though this can easily overwhealm someone striving to complete the game 106%.
There's something here for you in both spectrums like casual laid back play, and the fast pace time-trial runthrough of the levels.
Are you into speedruns? GREAT go for it!
Do you not have time for that and just want to get through the story? GREAT no problem, both will serve good competition.
While extremely hard in areas which can be either good or bad depending on the player there are items so easy to miss that you might not have a chance to get them without outside help.
Even though the title and story overwrites the majority of later Crash titles it does it in a celebratory manner instead of erasing it from existence.
Long story short, the game is fun, unique, beautiful and hard!
The Order (2019)
A Patchwork Show
The Order has an interesting plot streached out too long, which makes the few bursts of interesting ideas a bit annoying knowing you have to sit through so much filler to get to it.
The first half of season 1 is spent getting to know the magicans which they do a decent job of even though most of them are quite one dimentional.
While the other half of the characters, namely the werewolves, just gets thrown into the show so suddently you don't ever get to know them properly.
They just kind of expect you to care for them like if they had just had half a season of character development.
I think the biggest downfall of this show is its characters which are either, overacting, shallow, one dimentional or just plain annoying.
The only one I actually care about is the main character, but he can only carry so much.
If I'm being honest I'll watch anything for the werewolves.
That's why I started watching this in the first place, and the 3 seconds of cgi werewolves are awful to be honest.
They do have a costume as seen in the background of a shot in se1 ep10, which I think they should've used instead of cgi. It's the best looking werewolf in the show so far, despite it being blurred in the background and only appering for half a second through a window.
It's a Patchwork show because the good stuff is so spread out and sometimes very well hidden behind the plethra of annoying characters, boring drawn out episodes, uneccesary drama and awkward humor.
I could elaborate on all of this but I tried keeping it as short as possible.
The gore effects look great though! Specially in Season 2!
