Mothers' Instinct (2024)
Fantastic acting and so emotive!
If you like suspenseful dramas with a 60s backdrop then you'll love this. Really clever, intelligent writing and an interesting perspective, story-wise. Jessica Chastain and Anne Hathaway were absolute brilliant could not fault their performance aswell.
The only fault I would say is that in some parts of the storyline, it's slightly unrealistic but, if that wasn't accidental then it could be seen as part of its charm? They could've established some of the relationships more aswell to give the audience more chance to get invested in them.
Emotionally intelligent and very gripping overall though and would recommend.
Vanilla Sky (2001)
Mentally stimulating the entire way through
When I first started watching this movie, thought it might be another typical Rom-com (which I was happy to watch) but after half an hour, I knew it it was far much more than that. The ideas in this movie are very clever, the relationships are complex and thought provoking and in all honesty, you have no idea where you stand, until the last 20 minutes of the movie; I personally love storylines that mess with you mind a little. It has a nice balance between being playful and serious which I like because the movie is profound without you feeling depressed all the way through! I would definitely give this one a watch!
Class of '07 (2023)
highschool reunion version of LOST with good ending
If you like romcoms, dramas and apocalyptic storylines, you will love this! Has depth and layering at the same time as being comedically light, plus the ending leaves room for another series; can't wait for next one!:))
I also like that they have completely fresh actors in it. Based around classic highschool girl politics, it's intelligent in the sense that there's a part of every single character that is relatable and it suggests how people can change when thrown in life threatening situations. It's even more relatable because it highlights the fact that there's a lot from highschool that never really leaves us and how we allow it to control our decisions later on in life.
Do Revenge (2022)
Very stylish, feel-good movie!
There are quite a few strong themes that appear throughout this film which are: feminism, integrity, outdated patriarchy, narcissism, good bit of scandal, and friendship. It's a stylish, fun movie that creatively collaborates the above without being too heavy and the main actresses are great aswell! Really Cammi Mendes is perfect for this role; it required a strong, confident female face and she nailed it. I love that Sarah Michelle Gellar was in it aswell; she's always been a great role model for females. Not that this will be an important point for anybody, but the actress wardrobe is so cool!
