The movie you........ride
15 May 2006
I remember going on this attraction a few years back and for me it was the highlight of our little vacation. This little film is a motion controlled ride consisting of watching the first half (the introduction) and entering a theater theater with seats moving in sync with the on screen movements for the second half.

A teenager attempting to complete a last minute book report, goes to the local library one night to find some material he can use. There he meets the mysterious librarian who claims to have been on the same adventures as those written in the books. The teenager (not believing a word of it) stumbles upon a mysterious adventure novel which transports him back in time where he meets an explorer. After being chased by some vicious locals, the teen and the explorer fall down a trap and land in a boat and travel though the waterways of a hidden temple as you ride the hairy journey with them courtesy of the motion controlled seats.

The story put together with the bonus of you being able to ride it makes this a very interesting experience. I really enjoyed the most part, the acting and the story were great. If your ever at an amusement park and they got this beaut running I definitely suggest you try it out. problem is I think it's a little out-dated now. 9/10

Terror Toons (2002 Video)
3/10
Actually more entertaining than I thought.
20 April 2006
Warning: Spoilers
But still very poorly made. It just seems the only thing they could do right in this movie was have the viewer wonder whats gonna happen next although it is usually a lot of simple, mush minded, cliché glop that attempts to stay with the plot line but never makes any sort of impact at all.

Two stupid 'cartoon characters' in obvious costumes who are disciples of the devil attempt to torture and kill all children in the world by issuing their DVD of terror toons around the globe. However when it reaches a certain house and the two characters unleash hell on a bunch of unsuspecting numb skull teenagers. They meet their match in a girl named Amy who has become a superhero and gained the power to stop them.

Yep if you've read my description of the plot above you've probably assumed thats the worst of it. It's not. The acting is so awful it's not even funny, just incredibly painful to watch. You can tell the whole movie has been rushed just by following the events taking place. And the mindless gore scenes and characters just don't fit.

But if you want to enjoy this film here is the key. Don't take it seriously at all. That's right just, sit back and expect the worst. Then you can get more out of it. Although I enjoy most spoof movies by doing this, this film just isn't a spoof and makes it painful at times. I appreciate the director's attempts but I'm sorry Joe Castro this didn't work. 3/10

Date Movie (2006)
7/10
Underrated in my opinion.
10 April 2006
Sure it's not the best spoof and not all it's ideas are original but if you go to this movie and take it the slightest bit seriously I'm afraid you won't be able to enjoy it as much.

The plot? Well a typical compilation of spoofs for movies and TV shows such as Meet the parents/fockers, The wedding planner, pimp my ride, the bachelor, hitch and many more. All brought together by a ridiculous cliché love story not to be taken seriously.

Take in mind that a person with the brain of a Nat can watch this and still have a meaningful movie experience. There is a flaw in the overall flick though as it sometimes tries too hard with it's humor and drags itself into a boring scene. I recommend this for anyone with some free time and a cheap laugh. 7/10

Nice fun flick. Although a bit clichéd.
25 February 2006
The Legend of Johnny Lingo starts off strong and keeps itself going through the whole movie. You will notice the way it tells it's story at a normal pace and doesn't drop off the deep end and bore you to death.

A castaway pacific Islander infant recently washed up on one of the islands is taken in by the Island chief (Whale rider's "Rawiri Paratene") to be heir to the chiefs throne. The child is named Tama. However after a series of misfortunes the chief rejects him of this role and passes him to another family. However after bringing bad luck he is soon passed on from family to family until he is taken in by the island drunk and his stubborn daughter Mahana. Both him and Mahana, endlessly abused, begin sticking up for each other and form a close bond. However after being harassed up to his teeth Tama is fed up and longs to leave the island for a better place. Leaving Mahana behind so she can take care of her father, Tama promises to come back to take care of her. After being shipwrecked on a more wealthy Island Tama is taken in by the legendary Johnny Lingo destined to fill in his shoes after his time is up.

Sometimes the humor is over done and clichéd but the story and characters maintain a strong balance which leave it's flaws in the dust. Nice little flick. Recommended for anyone and maybe a family or two. 8/10

Crash (I) (2004)
10/10
A powerful viewing experience
17 February 2006
The trailer makes crash look somewhat boring but believe me, even with all the drama necessary for the story crash is anything but boring. With the script and writing up to perfection the experience is great and may even keep you at the edge of your seat while tired and ready for bed (It did for me).

Crash tells the story of different groups of different people somehow connected. They learn how to deal with and accept all the atrocious facts of life such as racism, robbery, murder etc. However while they must come to terms with this they must also learn that their own behavior and exaggerations may not be any better than those they accuse.

With acting and writing up to perfection this was a very powerful film and will have your mind racing throughout the whole movie. If anyone tells you this is overrated don't listen to em. It certainly deserved the recognition it deserves. Congratulations Crash. Thumbs up (Not that I'm a critic). 10/10

Rubber Johnny (2005)
10/10
A very well done short film.
16 January 2006
Altogether this is an enjoyable little movie but you can really enjoy it if you imagine it as real life footage. Chris Cunningham and his crew make this out as if they are filming actual footage of a deformed teenager and if you know the back story it can strike your brain as fairly disturbing. They do it well.

This shows footage of a severely deformed super flexible teenager living in solitude in his dark basement where his parents keep him due to being ashamed of him. All he has for company is his frightened dog. This will show his reaction to someone trying to get through to him and a little dance number to keep himself occupied in his dull life.

Overall this is a great little enjoyable film and spooky at that. Bravo Chris Cunningham, you rock.

Moonwalker (1989 Video Game)
A classic and well remembered game.
8 January 2006
I remember when I was very young getting a sega master system bundled with this game. Its was a good game for its time especially good for keeping four kids occupied. I haven't played it in around ten years but I remember this game being a big part of the reason I looked up to MJ then.

Storys simple. Children have been kidnapped and its up to Michael Jackson to go through certain stages of his film "Moonwalker" and rescue them. This takes him to a 50's club (Smooth criminal), a thug infested car park (Beat it), a graveyard and more.

Classic game although very outdated I would recommend to anyone.

American Dad! (2005– )
Wasn't expecting too much. I underestimated this show.
10 November 2005
I was expecting this to just be a family guy clone with different character, This is more than that, its hilarious. The characters and humor are on the same sort of level as family guy but Seth McFarlane managed to work his magic and create a whole new different level of humor and wit for this show which sets itself apart from family guy.

A secret service FBI agent, prone to overreacting must find a way to use his skills to help his family and their new illegal alien housemate with basic troubles in life. Problem is sometimes it proves too much with hilarious results.

Remember this isn't a kid's show and I guess thats what makes this and family guy so special. They can put in all the added toilet humor it needs and the writers seem to know how to do it perfectly. The characters are great but the main character Stan Smith stands out above all the rest (With their alien friend coming in a close second). Anyone who wants a laugh, drop everything and watch this.

Bust a Move (1998 Video Game)
Awesome, if you know how to play.
23 September 2005
This game sadly flopped.Kind of sucked because this was a very fun game if you know how to play it.

This game is about a few very different and quirky characters who try to prove themselves making it to the top in a dance competition. Who will come out on top is anyone's guess.

The reason it flopped was because people usually think you can just pick up a controller and get used to a game without any practice. This isn't the case with Bust A Move. You must hit the buttons in a certain time with the beat and without training people would just assume they can figure it out and just drop the game because they don't know what they are doing.

If you know how to play this however it is awesome as I said above. Seeing what moves your character can pull of in time with the music is plain amusing. The characters were well done especially Ham, an overweight burger fanatic who stuffs hamburgers into his mouth as one of his moves.

A recommend party game to play with friends around. 10/10

Dancing was phat, thats about it.
27 August 2005
What I hear from critics on this board and everyday teenagers about this movie the two group's answers are a lot different. People who are on the internet judge this by it's poor attempt at an inspirational plot, bad acting and corny cliché dialog. The casual teenage group really enjoy this because they do not look closely for it's many flaws but instead pay close attention to it's "in your face" (Well what it tries anyway) attitude and the way these street wise locals can bust-A-move. This tends to fool them and makes the story seem more realistic and more interesting then it really is. Grossing less than 50,000,000 smackers in theaters worldwide this film would have been a bomb if it had a higher budget than the pitiful 12,000,000 it went on.

Basic story, A couple of homies with their own high profile underground dance group find themselves in situation when their hustled out of $5,000 after a former member of their group betrays them. Already long time delivery boys of a black mob lord their friendship takes a turn when one of them accidentally blows off the other while out with his sister. Forcing to deliver the goods himself he is mugged and stripped of all of it. Now the rest of the group and some friends must try to get these two tight to win a "big bounce" competition for $50,000.

Don't be fooled by what some people say, the dancing can be extremely entertaining. As said above the story, characterization, acting and dialog tries to fit in with all the hip hop attitude and just ruins itself on that note. It doesn't deserve the abuse it has received but just don't expect something too intelligent.

Not too appreciated, but I loved it's humor
20 August 2005
Gotta love spoofs. As for me, I love Rowan Atkinson's work and think he is perfect in all his roles. This movie is no exception and he's not the only one, this movie has a spot on cast and everything fits into the comedy. They could have made John Malkovitch's character more humorous though but that doesn't stop this from being a rip-roaring action comedy.

An accident prone English agent is chosen to solve a notorious jewel heist as he is the only one they've got. After being seen by his partners of all the misfortune he is capable of, he is still entrusted to bring down this respected thief and bring order back into society.

When you play this movie, don't expect it's an inspiring story to be taken in seriously, because its, uh, not. Don't get serious and you can really enjoy this one. 8/10

We Were the Mulvaneys (2002 TV Movie)

Doesn't really keep you at the edge of your seat, But entertaining enough
19 August 2005
Warning: Spoilers
This is meant to be a sad and inspiring drama based on a popular novel. I hadn't read the novel and didn't know what to expect. While watching it though I couldn't help but find it hilarious. Not in a bad way though. They take the viewer into the image of a perfectly happy Christian family with no troubles and a great life. They quickly corrupt this image to their full extent with a series of rape, violence, excessive alcohol drinking, child disowning, child-abuse, illegal weapon use and near murder.

The plot is fairly simple. A family must test their faith and selflessness when a series of vile acts are befell upon them.

Not too intense though and not really the best movie to watch if your bored. It doesn't seem to go in too many directions. Stays fairly simple so the majority of people would probably leave their seat halfway through. But this movie is easy to just sit down too if you want to get in deep with your thoughts. 5/10

Sin City (2005)
10/10
Definitely worth a look
17 August 2005
Warning: Spoilers
I haven't read the comics but if their as good and interesting as the movie someone's probably spent a few hours on the can reading em. It's gory, sinister with an attitude to boot. I'm a big fan of sick gory films(You got no problem with that right?) and this is story is about as corrupt and violent as you can get.

This looks at the slightly connected misadventures of three hard individuals who won't go down in a single gunshot. Murderers, dealers, hookers and hustlers bring them into situations almost over their heads. They uncover more about what their looking for as the quest goes on in this corrupt society even if it does mean a tragic fate.

All the cast did extremely well. Except maybe Alexis Bledel after although doing well her voice and delivery seemed too sweet and innocent for her role. Pretty much Rory from Gilmore girls dressed in slutty clothes. The person who caught the most of my eye was Elijah Wood as the role of Kevin, a mute cannibal who fights like a cat, tearing into people's flesh and keeping their heads in his holding room. This shows he can be a lot more sinister than that scrawny hobbit people are used to seeing him as.

Keep this one away from the kids and squeamish but it'll make up for a good time. 10/10
