Krampus: Origins (2018)
Good in bad
Acting and cinematography were surprisingly competent. Peabody, Olsen, Hall, and surprisingly Waxman were pretty great. The stock music and special effects took me out of it but other than that I'm impressed for a low budget straight to dvd horror movie.
Bee Movie (2007)
A masterpiece of our time
The Bee Movie is a brilliant piece of filmmaking. Will go up there with Citizen Kane and the Godfather. Biting social commentary, powerful drama, and likable characters. What is there that you can't love, man?! Just...beautiful, 10/10. Mwah! Mwah mwah! MWAH MWAH MWAH MWAH!
(honest review: It's fine I guess, I'd give it a 5)
Krampus (2015)
David Koechner is the worst
David Koechner is the worst but the movie is okay over all. I think the elements that look visually dark and twisted are awesome. Everything with gingerbread men and David Koechner and just all the goofy stuff is garbage.
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016)
I don't care for it.
Symbolism and metaphors don't make a great movie. A great movie makes symbolism and metaphors. People who say the movie, Batman Vs. Superman: Dawn Of Justice, is good only because of its symbolism don't understand that. Strangely, the movie itself doesn't understand that either. Instead of making a film worthy of metaphors and symbolism, we get a film that doesn't even understand how to be a film. Instead of focusing on the internal conflicts of Batman or Superman to flesh them out more and make them seem logical in their deductions, we have Easter eggs made into subplots and even made into the stupidest parts of the main plot. Doomsday, Wonder Woman, and the Justice League set up drag this film down more than anything else because the film should be about the clashing of two heroes with different ideals. Instead we have this gigantic mess. The dialogue is horribly written, the CGI is of the same quality of the CGI in Star Wars: Attack Of The Clones. The acting, except from Ben Affleck and Jeremy Irons, is dull. There isn't a real thing about this film I enjoyed.
The High (2014)
Why Short Films Should Be Held To The Standards Of Full-Length Films
Ralph Sepe Jr. is one of my favorite filmmakers working today. I'm not gonna say he makes short films because he doesn't. He makes films. The length of a film has never truly mattered to me. What matters is the pacing. The High is paced perfectly, turning 37 minutes into an experience that feels like an epic. What makes the film truly work is Sepe Jr.'s direction. This film is directed with so much passion, creativity, and experimentation. There is never a dull moment thanks to the direction. The writing is great. The dialogue somehow hijacks your eyes as well as your ears because of how well written it is. I truly care about the two main characters and this modern tragedy of how easy it is for a human being to make nothing matter to him. I love this film. It's my favorite of his work so far and I cannot wait for his next film, Lover; I pray since it is supposedly a full-length film that critics will give it enough attention. I know I will.
Fight Club (1999)
Where Is My Mind?
Serious question. Where is my mind? I must have lost it since I'm breaking the first two rules. Yep. I'm talking about Ight-Fay Ub-Clay. Sorry, I'm really paranoid about talking about the 'Club'. Sorry. It's just that I respect F-C too much to disrespect its rules. Its commentary's too powerful yet satirical for me to disrespect...Okay fine, I'll call it Fight Club (I am Jack's Paranoia). Fight Club follows a the most relatable character ever as he dives into a world of beautiful anarchy, social commentary, and lurid dark comedy. Need I say more about this cinematic equivalent to the rapture? Okay, fine. It has a unique message about how anarchy can sometimes be made with order/rules. I mean there are EIGHT RULES that make up this anarchy group. Seriously interesting and overall fantastic film.
Interstellar (2014)
This Film Is Actually Fantastic
Beautiful visuals, great characters brought to mesmerizing life from mesmerizing performances. I first thought this film was just good but after multiple watches I love it. It's one of the best science fiction films of its decade. The twist confused me at first, but after realizing what was happening in front of me, I was blown away. It's also a movie with a lot of heart that's tender enough to make you cry.
Only God Forgives (2013)
Only God Forgives Will Emotionally Confuse You
The first time I saw Only God Forgives, I knew I liked it. I just didn't get what it was trying to tell me. From a cop who is pretty much a manifestation of GOD to Gosling wanting his hands chopped off by that same cop who murdered his brother, Only God Forgives WILL emotionally confuse you. So what's good about it? On a technical level, it's brilliant. The music and visuals help create a dream-like atmosphere that gives the film a unique, stylish personality. Plus, a fight takes place between Gosling and the God Cop which is one of the best fight scenes I have EVER seen. Even if you feel no connections with the characters thus creating an emotional experience, the choreography and acting from the two fighters make it incredible to watch. Overall this was Drive but with a focus on the look than the story.
Drive (2011)
Drive Is My Favorite Film
Drive is the greatest example of film I have ever seen. I'm so glad that I saw this film. Drive is now my favorite film. It's an emotional, dark, violent, and sometimes hopeful film about a man trying to figure out if he can be in his line of work but still come out as a hero. Speaking of the protagonist, Gosling perfectly portrays one of the best characters I have seen in a film. This character is just so complex and interesting that you might demand a prequel telling us more about the 'Driver'. It has the best cinematography, acting, music, and most importantly direction in a film. Please support this film by owning it, whether it be the Blu-Ray or DVD.
