Mamma Mia! (2008)

Pure happiness, that is all and that is enough.
10 July 2020
This movie is two hours of music and happiness. This movie is an easy 11/10 method of being happy and one of my all time favourites. There is no ingenious plot or thought provoking question, and that's fine. Just sing along and enjoy.

Quite good
6 August 2019
Good anime in most aspects but do not expect an intriguing mystery as in whodunit. Best thing is the friends interacting with each other, in my opinion.

9/10 I like almost all the characters.

8/10 The art is good.

8/10 Good music.

7/10 villain

7/10 plot.

4/10 the actual mystery.

Pointless violence with excessive swearing for what.
29 July 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I just watched this for the first time. It's just extremely pointless and plotless, except for 30 minutes. It does not build up to any big finale in any way, it just exists. It's like a diary, simple documentation of what happens with no existing reason.

It has four different plotlines in it, wowen together by including some of the same characters. Each could be a tv episode of some show. These plotlines would be equally "good" if they had completely different characters. One of them might be worth seeing. The other ones are diaries.

Tarantino plays around with chronology ... so what? It made it neither better, nor worse. Just pointless.

It has an extreme amount of swearing -most sentences, literally- and violence. Not necessarily a bad thing but definitely not a good one by default either. Just tedious in this case. If the violence was exciting like some shootout this movie could have been worth seeing as braindead action. However it is almost only executions with no drama.

Bruce Willis character Butch has a decent plotline and was a bit exciting as it wasn't obvious how everything was going to end. With some improvement it could be a decent short movie on its own. With a lot of improvement perhaps a decent longer movie.

There is one more scene where a character has a moral decision to make that might be worth seeing. There is no point in seeing the remaining 100 minutes.

This is not the worst movie I have ever seen. It is nothing like The Room, for example. As it is currently the 8th highest rated movie on imdb it is however by far the most overrated one that I have ever seen. I would give it two or three stars for the Butch storyline if I didn't feel like the average has to be lowered as much as possible due to the current absurd 8.9.

One last thing: The hit man that John Travolta plays is sometimes just more of a braindead a**hole (the only word I can come up with to describe) than what is possible.

Everything in this review is of course opinions but I almost dare say most of it is opinions that are common sense.

Pure joy, perhaps my new favourite movie
21 July 2018
This movie is two hours of great music, great acting and great scenery. That is all there is to it and nothing more is needed to make this one of my favourite movies ever, up there with Shawshank Redemption. No amazing twists or thought provoking situations here. Just two hours of pure uncontained joy in an unusual case where the sequel beats the original.

Lean back, sing along with the rest of the audience and go with the flow.

Alright looking trash
8 January 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Fairly good movie visually and when it comes to stunts. The story? Max and a few others flee from a place the villain controls, 80 min car chase. Then they turn around immidiately and kill the villain on the way back, 40 min car chase. Braindead action is a common movie genre, not necessarily bad and always with some kind of plot or interesting characters.. This movie is literally just braindead action ... literally.

Imagine watching the grand finale of any action but not the rest of the movie, so you got no idea about why things happen or care enough to root for any side. This is that, for almost two hours.

Movie bearable because Drax was hilarious (SPOILERS)
8 May 2017
Warning: Spoilers
SPOILERS BELOW

I had quite high expectations as I really liked the first movie despite not being a huge fan of superhero movies, even those widely regarded as great. Well, when it came to visuals my expectations were more or less met even if the Stormtrooper level of shooting was awkwardly bad at times. It wasn't marvelous but no complaints. The main characters worked out fine together, just like last time. The rest sucked.

The only characters that had a real reason to be in this movie was the guardians, the villain and to some extend extra daddy Yondu.

The golden people in the start? Attacked with spaceships twice and that was it, didn't matter to the plot at all.

The sister of Gomora? Completely pointless, first tried to kill her sister then they suddenly become friends again, after that she is unnecessary.

Yondus gang and people that stopped working with him etc? Worked as motivation for him to join the guardians and help out but played a far too large part for just introducing Yondu.

Yondu? Nice seeing him again after the last movie as he is an interesting character. He matters in this movie as it is pretty much about the main characters backstory, where Yondu was more or less the father. There is also a quite nice scene with him in the end.

The plot? You don't know what the movie is about until Ego aka biological daddy suddenly turns out to be a bad guy with a weird motivation. I think that happens 20-30 min before the movie is over, which makes the story from there on far too stressed and fast. The only things that mattered in the movie before that is that Ego picked up the main char and that Yondu got thrown out of his gang by mutiny. This could have been done in 30 min, then 60 min could have been spent on getting to know Ego and gradually showing how he was a bad guy instead of it coming out of thin air. Make it like that, meaning 90 minutes long, and it could have been a decent movie.

The only reason I don't give this movie 1 or 2 is because the "jokes" where Drax and the antenna girl don't have any social barriers and speak the truth all the time were hilarious and made parts of the audience laugh out loud, including me.
