Otvorena vrata (1994)
The Best Serbian TV-Series Ever
Have you ever seen a family like this: - slightly neurotic mother - father who cheats the mother - male child who is sick all the time - daughter philosopher - uncle who is always afraid of something - uncle's daughter, a freaky teenage girl - many strange and twisted neighbors? If you haven't, my suggestion is to watch "Otvorena vrata". "Otvorena vrata" aka "Opened door" is probably the best Serbian TV-series ever. Althoug all the scenes were taken in one apartment, all of them are authentic and realistic. Wonderful screenplay, great characters and best acting (Vesna Trivalic, Bogdan Diklic, Bojana Maljevic, Olivera Markovic, Milan Gutovic, Vlasta Velisavljevic, and many others) made of this one great series. Unfortunately, it had been shown only a couple of times, so the spectators couldn't see how good it it. I hope some day there will be some reprises! Well, watch it and you will see how good it is!!!!! You will laugh as much as I did!
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004)
The best movie ever seen, the best story ever written!!!
Two months before the Oscars were awarded, I heard this movie will be one of the candidates for many awards. I haven't watch it, but the title was telling me it will be the great pleasure watching it. I knew it isn't one of the sweet love stories and couldn't wait to buy DVD and see what can show me two of my favourite actors - wonderful Kate Winslet and amazing Jim Carrey. Two months later, I was disappointed (even though I didn't watch it) seeing how there were no Golden Globes for this movie, and it won only one Oscar. None of them for Kate or Jim. This summer I finally got the opportunity to see "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind". I'm a man, and men don't cry, but this time I cried. I was amazed by Jim's and Kate's performances, the story was absolutely fantastic, and this movie became my No1. Yes, I know it's a bit funny and odd being amazed by movie you didn't watch, but it happens to me very often. And when I finally spend my precious time watching that movies, I become satisfied. This time, I was more satisfied then I thought I would be. "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" is the best movie ever!!! I know most of you won't agree with me, but if you watch it one more time, you will see how strong and healthy it is. I'm not saying healthy only because the tears are good, I'm saying it because it could clear you mind and learn you not to make sudden decisions. "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" is basically the story about human nature. Made in extremely strange and, I think, experimental way, it told us how we can control our mind, but our heart will survive the changes and come out as one big winner. Mary (Kirsten Dunst) showed us it by re-falling in love with Doctor Howard. It showed us Joel and Clementine when they met again. Kate Winslet was great. She showed us one more time that she is one of the best actresses ever and I can't understand why she didn't win Oscar so far. She surely was better than Hilary Swank in "Million Dollar Baby". Kate was the one who lead this movie. I watched her in "Titanic" and were amazed by her possibilities, but this role was very hard and definitely her best. In "Titanic" she was a lady, but here we could see her excellent Clementine, strange impulsive girl. Jim Carrey was amazing, especially in scenes of fight against erasing Clementine from his memory. I also can't understand why he didn't win at least nomination. He's probably the best example how Academy can make terrible mistakes. I was charmed by his acting in "Man on the Moon", but this time he was even better. Kirsten Dunst was also very good, but Elijah Wood was the one that surprised me, pleasantly. Certainly the best technical part of this movie is camera. It was great. I've never seen such a great moves and scenes. It was like taking a part in all that's happening on the screen. Make-up was perfect. Jim Carrey looked really good; he was the perfect image of tired, devastated, depressive shy guy. Kate Winslet's hair was such a tasty detail. Two years before I couldn't imagine Kate having that colour, but when I saw it, I was stunned with surprise how good it was. And a screenplay wonderful. So many nice dialogues, so much subtlety, so many nice thoughts. I especially liked the conversation between Mary and Doctor Howard, about wise thoughts, when I heard what Alexander Pope said about mind and heart. "How happy is the blameless vestal's lot! The world forgetting, by the world forgot. Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind! Each pray'r accepted, and each wish resign'd." And I couldn't agree more with that. "The Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" is the greatest master-piece of all time. The best movie ever seen, the best story ever written!!!
