I liked it...just some good fun with Doom Head!
I've seen this twice, and I do like Rob Zombie movies, so I'm a little biased. I love the characters. Doom Head is creepy, calculating and just messed up enough to enjoy. The other characters that come into the game are there long enough to just get a taste of what they are like, and that's long enough to leave you wanting more of them.
The gore is there, the action, the wonky characters. I thought the movie had a great pace to it. I would watch it again, just because there are so many bad movies out right now, I know this would entertain me again. If you liked Devil's Rejects or House of 1,000 Corpses, this is for you. If you haven't seen those, this might be a little too much, go back and start with House of 1, 000 Corpses. Overall, thumbs up, can't wait for 3 From Hell!
The Unseen (2017)
WATCH OUT FOR FAKE REVIEWS...this is NOT a scary movie
First...most of these other "great" reviews are from people who "happened" to join IMDB 3 weeks ago...and this is the only movie they have reviewed...you can figure that one out...I can say that didn't just join because out of all the movies they have seen, they had to leave a review on this one...check out the profiles of the other reviewers to see what I mean, there are a few legit ones.
52 minutes in and this is soooo boring....so far it's about a couple dealing with a tragedy and how they cope with it...it is NOT scary...it is NOT riveting...I'm out...not worth watching because I was looking for a good thriller and this is faaaaaaaar from that. Maybe another time when I was looking for something slow...today is not that day.
Drama...not horror, not riveting...bleh....
The Barn (2016)
Very amateur movie, but awesome score and soundtrack
The movie itself was very amateur...the dialogue, acting, story line...everything screams amateur...except the score and soundtrack, that was a great, retro, horror movie score. The action scenes are too short...left me wanting more...it was like there was a build up to each, then they were over in two hits. It really didn't hold my interest, but I did like the idea of the movie, it just needed to be fleshed out a little more. Overall, nice attempt at a horror movie throwback to the 80's, but not spectacular.
The music, however was very well done for such a low budget film. The soundtrack and score were both pretty good, I was impressed and that's the main reason for writing the review...the score and soundtrack deserved a shout out.
Smothered (2016)
Loved this-Big Kane Hodder and Bill Moseley fan!!
I really enjoyed this, I don't usually get to see this much Bill and Kane in a movie! Yeah, it is kinda cheesy, but that is what I loved about it! I laughed at several parts and I thought everyone did a great job.
I think this is great for those that love all these horror icons, R.A's secret cracked me up, lol. I am not going to give spoilers, why read a movie review for the spoilers!? Instead, I will say this is great for what it is, and I could tell everyone had a great time making the movie, that is what counts! We all know that no one in this just did it for the money, they did it because they love what they do! This is a fun movie and I will be watching this again!! Great job!!!
Cannibal (2006)
Great movie, but not for the faint at heart!
I have watched a lot of horror movies, underground and the what not...but this is one of the most disturbing movies I have ever seen...I don't know why...but it really bothered me.
The movie is well done, but it actually made me sick to my stomach, lol...just they way it is done, I guess...which is very well to have bothered me like that. I am not giving any spoilers, just be prepared if you watch this, this is NOT a date night movie, lol.
It has been a few years since I have seen this, but I know I will not go back and watch it...I actually broke the DVD after watching this because I did not want my kids or my husband to watch it...it disturbed me that much. Maybe it was just me, maybe it was my frame of mind at the time of watching this, who knows...
I would recommend this if you can stomach it, it is very well done.
The Green Inferno (2013)
Great cannibal film with some great gore!!
I like this, and have seen it three times...even though a lot of people are giving this bad reviews, I don't think it deserves that. There will be no spoilers here, I don't think people read movie reviews to find out what happens in the whole movie, that is kind of pointless...I am an Eli Roth fan, and I think this movie is well done, for what they had to work with. Yes, the story is a little slow in the beginning, but I think it sets the stage for how much you either like or dislike the characters and justifies what happens to them in the end.
I really liked the commentary on the DVD, it helped to understand a little more of how hard the filming was and what they had to go through.
This was my daughter's first foray into cannibalism, lol, and she cringed a lot...although this is not the bloodfest of Cabin Fever, it is still done well. I think it is worth a watch for any cannibal fan, we all know there are some pretty bad films out there, lol, and this was not one of those! I recommend watching it once and then rewatching it with the commentary on!
Baskin (2015)
Great performance by Mehmet Cerrahoglu!
I did like this film, I think in the most part for Mehmet Cerrahoglu's performance...what a wonderful way to portray such a dark character, so calm and collected and almost sympathetic.
I found the storyline a little strange, but I did enjoy the dialogue of Father; I thought his lines made sense, at least to me. The gore is there, and it is done very well...I did not find this to be as much "torture porn" as I expected from the trailer....I know I have seen worse, lol.
Overall, I think this is worth a watch, I was not disappointed in it. I read a lot of bad reviews on this, and I think it just depends on what expectations you have going into the this. I did not find this as disturbing as the original Martyrs...that one still gets to me today, but overall, worth a watch just for Mehmet Cerrahoglu, that was a pleasant surprise!
Martyrs (2015)
Not bad when not compared to the original
So, yes, I have seen the original and it still haunts me to this day, and I watch a lot of movies...but the opening of the original is just brutal...and we know that won't fly in USA movies, thanks to censors, so it is not right to really compare this to the original, that could never be done here...so I did not go into this expecting to the see the original movie "remade"...it will never be done and does not need to be.
So, from my point of view, this was not a horrible movie...I did not come out of this feeling I had wasted the time I spent watching this. The story is a little more fleshed out in this one without all the torture scenes of the first one and it was made to reflect our current times and the location of it. Not a bad movie at all, and I do still prefer the original...nothing will ever touch the way the original makes me feel to this day...BUT, I don't think this movie deserves all the trash talk it gets...there are so many "bad" horror movies out there that are a lot worse than this was.
Overall, not bad, just don't expect the original, it could never be made in an American movie. I definitely think it was worth the watch, it was done well.
