The Walking Dead: Out of the Ashes (2021)
Cailey Fleming is a gem to behold
Cailey Fleming (Judith Grimes) might be one of the best child actors currently working, I dare even say on the same level as Jacob Trembley. There is a reason she was cast as both young Rey for Star Wars and young Sylvie in Marvel's Loki.
This season is a massive boost in quality after a couple of rough seasons plagued by poor writing and inconsistent pacing. I pity those who gave up on the show prior to season 11. Also, the cinematography this season is on a whole other level than the previous, every episode feels like a movie. Im holding my fingers crossed every new episode that the quality stays the same and that the stories unfold in a natural way for the characters and the world they live in.
12 Monkeys: The Beginning Part 2 (2018)
The show that took time travel to a whole new level, and the episode that proved it.
Wow, what a conclusion to the show. The finale to this series is most likely one of the best series finales that I have ever seen. Even if the TV show in general is not very thought through, the time travel aspect of it might be, everything else is just thoughtless. The finale leaves with a great deal of ambiguity that will make the viewers want to believe the happy ending of the more realistic and sad ending. The choice is yours, how the viewer interprets it is entirely up to them. Even though it ends on an ambiguous note it simultaneously feels like a very satisfying end to the TV show.
The 100: Damocles: Part Two (2018)
The End Of An Era, The Beginning Of Another One?
Season 5 has been entertaining and thrilling, but the constant back and forth betrayals and unpredictable behavior from almost all of the characters has been annoying and overwhelming. The only characters that I brought myself to really like this season was most likely everyone that lived on the ring for six years. I have no idea what the hell Kane was thinking towards that end of the season, for a character to be that unreliable it's hard for the audience to invest in him. Same goes for Octavia, Abby and above all Clarke. Clarke is essentially the biggest villain of season 5. I just find it confusing and really frustrating to have characters that the audience can't fully invest in cause you can't know their true motives and desires. Apart from the character dilemmas I found season 5 episode 13 to be extremely exciting and it's cool to see the end of an era, so to speak. And the beginning of a new chapter in the 100. I mean you can only destroy earth so many times, I really thought the Monty and Harper story line at the end of the episode was touching and fitting end for their characters. Even though old man Monty had a truly horrible hair stylist and make up artist that attempted to age him. The finale was really epic and probably tear jerking for a lot of the hardcore fans of the 100. I guess the question is for how long can they continue this show? I would have been content with the season finale to be the series finale. Now they risk incorporating a bigger story line with the possibility of the show ending on a cliffhanger. A new planet, unexplored adds an amazing opportunity for the show to have new mysteries and new stories. But that all depends on if they can execute it correctly. Also they never showed us what the hell that monster was that grabbed Octavia in the river during season 1. There are many issues with the 100, I mean it's a cheesy and at times silly teen show. Not as bad as Riverdale and Teen Wolf, but up there. But at the same time it's a bad ass thrill ride that is entertaining.
Dark (2017)
A suspenseful and atmospheric TV Show that requires your undivided attention.
Dark is at first hand thought to be the German version of Stranger Things. But following the first episode it flips that statement upside down (pun intended).
Dark thankfully doesn't hold your hand during viewing, it for the most part entrusts it's viewers to pay attention and understand. It respects it's viewers and doesn't treat them like teenagers lacking brain cells. Dark has an eerie atmosphere and a vibrant soundtrack that contributes to the eerie touch of the show. The cinematography is beautiful and the acting is superb. The way this show is set up is quite genius, it's a uniquely crafted show that will require you too pay attention to every little detail in the dialogue and visuals. DO NOT watch this show dubbed as English, Netflix defaults the show to English in most countries leading you to have to manually change the audio to German and enable English subtitles. Watching it in German is worth it and enhances the experience tenfold. Even though the premise of this show isn't exactly original the idea and story the unfolds and entirely original and amazing. Dark has very little influence from Stranger Things and IT that many people are referring it to for some reason. I'd say you could relate it more to movies such as Predestination and Déjà Vu, and TV shows such as 12 Monkeys and Lost. This show can be experienced as quite slow, there isn't as much Hollywood action that goes into other shows such as Stranger Things in this one. Is slow but provocative and suspenseful, it's a drama/thriller with an amazing supernatural twist. I also have to give props to the show for not explaining alternate dimensions and wormholes/black holes using the conventional Hollywood method used in Interstellar, Stranger Things and Event Horizon. The story that unfolds in this show is amazing, and will surprise almost every episode. I encourage that you watch this show alone actually, I can't imagine watching it with someone else in the room, because if you or the other person start talking you will have to pause the show. Because you can't talk and read the English subtitles at the same time. Plus watching it alone in a quiet environment really makes it an amazing experience. This show isn't for everyone, it isn't for the low IQ viewers and won't tolerate those who can't handle a show with barely any humor. Anyhow, Dark is an amazing and enthralling experience and has me hyped for it's second season.
