Predators (2010)
Epic sequel
"Predators" is a worthy follow-up to the 1987 Schwarzenneger original. In fact, this could be the best movie in the Alien/Predator series since then.
"Predators" returns the action to the jungle, only we're not on Earth anymore. A group of proved soldiers, all from different nationalities and backgrounds, find themselves dropped onto this alien planet, the Predator homeworld. Together, they have to fight their way out.
The characters are all likable, especially the heroic Russian agent Nikolai and the crazy-yet-funny convict, Stans. Adrien Brody is also convincing as a seasoned soldier, and he certainly worked out enough to dismiss anyone who said he wasn't physically right for the role.
Other stand-outs are the compassionate but deadly Isabelle and the panicky doctor, Edwin, as well as the silently lethal Yakuza member, Hanzo, who faces a Predator one-on-one. Laurence Fishburne may be the most impressive in his role as Nolan, an eccentric scavenger who's survived on the planet for "10 seasons".
Another strong point is that most of the music in the movie was based on the score from the first Predator, which was one of the reasons that movie was so memorable.
This is a sequel that Predator fans should go crazy for. It's got the badass action and characters, memorable lines, epic action sequences, TWO bloody final battles. It's the type of R-Rated action movie that hasn't been seen much lately, and if you're a Predator fan, you owe it to yourself to watch this.
Michael & Michael Have Issues (2009)
Hilarious - Comedy Central's best new show in a while
I don't get all the hate against this show, on this site. It makes absolutely no sense to me. This show has been awesomely hilarious since the first episode. I just don't get what's NOT to like about it.
I liked Stella when it first came out, and was disappointed when it wasn't renewed. However, I like this show even MORE. It's kinda like the Tenacious D HBO episodes, where it's a show within a show, with Michael & Michael talking to the audience throughout the episodes. The sketches are definitely some of the best I've seen in a long time, examples including: Michael & Michael having an air "fight" where neither person actually hits the other, a sweatpants store for depressed people, "Same Age Couples", the Rabbit Stomping Competition, "British Fork Offerer", and so much more. What really drives the show is the great chemistry between MIB and Show. They have this passive aggressive way of insulting each other and others, which really makes things work.
Anyway, I have to say this is Comedy Central's best new show since 2005. If you like Stella, Reno 911, The Hollow Men, and Tenacious D, you'll like this.
The King of Queens: Mild Bunch (2007)
"We better reload, then."
Doug meets up with his old friend, Jeff Sussman, at a High School reunion. It turns out Sussman -- who, along with Doug, were once wild party animals back in their school days -- has grown up and matured, and is now the school's principal - or so he claims. It turns out he's really just the principal's assistant, and he's grown frustrated and tired of his job.
That night, at the reunion party, Doug and Jeff decide to bring the back the "glory" days -- they decide to egg Principal Nagel's car. What starts off simply as an innocent prank, leads to Jeff becoming increasingly enraged with his life and job, and he becomes more wild, even dangerous, deciding they should do more than just egg the car. This begins with Jeff peeing into the principal's car and eventually escalates to a break-in into a store and a plan to rob and then kidnap the principal. I won't spoil the ending, but let's just say it involves the cops and an escape to Mexico.
One of the best King of Queens episodes. Sandler is just awesome as Jeff "The Beast" Sussman, a character who is frustrated with his tedious job and mundane life, and just snaps, going to ridiculous-yet-hilarious lengths to get revenge against his boss. There's also a funny side-story where Spence gets confused for a lesbian woman at the party, and Danny hooks up with a gay football star, just to prove to Spence that he still 'has it'.
10/10.
